I loved the prose in parts, especially these lines- "A thick mist hung from the trees. Prito looked up. There was something ominous in the air, an impending gloom. It was as if deep sadness lurked in the leaves, mixed with grime, dust and fog. She shook her head. Her mother-in-law, God have mercy on the kind soul, had always told her to avoid negative thoughts as they heralded unpleasant events."

Through Nandlal's journey, we experience the suspense and thrills of espionage, but also the moral complexities and difficult choices that defined this pivotal moment in India's history.

Overall,  "The Silk Route Spy" is a mesmerizing portrayal of courage, sacrifice, and the enduring power of family legacy that leaves an indelible mark on our understanding of India's struggle for independence.  It's a grasping, fast-paced story. The book made me realise how little we know about the people who sacrificed their lives in silence during Independence. I loved reading it.

My take

The story is interesting with a speedy plot. There are numerous POVs, and I adored the person bends. The author's impeccable account makes the old ports of India, Jerusalem, Italy, and Rome distinctive. I adored the short parts, which made the story seriously fascinating. The tension and turns keep us stuck to the page.
