Book review: Have you eaten Rice Today?

 Book review:

💧In 1950’s Malaya adds poignancy to the salutation, ‘have you eaten rice today?’ when hunger drives some terrorists to surrender. This book deals with  Simon, a British soldier and  e Dee, an Australian nurse that have a torrid romance in Malaya during the Emergency uprising. I really love the backdrop and historical period evoking the dangers of jungle warfare to the bustle and glamour of Penang.

💧This book is a  captivating heart-rending tale that takes place amidst the violence of the jungle warfare where  the paths of two individuals converge. Both of them trying their level best to lessen the pain of others as per their knowledge. But their love could not meet due to certain misunderstandings.

💧After sixty years when Simon's grandson unravels the secrets of his grandpa during a research. A lot  of twists and turns with a rollescoaster ride are marvellous. The way their love gets life and relive their backdrop love is heart- touching.

💧The author has  brilliantly depicted is the dichotomy of life away from the jungle, the beaches and gin and tonics on hotel verandas. He has well penned strong relationships and the importance of those, from close family relationships and the conflicts that sometimes arise in that area, strong friendships in times of struggles and passionate romantic relationships too.

💧I loved reading this book immensely and would recommend this historical fiction to all. I am thankful to Kelly @lovebookstours and @booksirens for gifting me this book in return of an honest review.

💧Happy Reading!
