Favourite reads from Graphic Novels
As my kids are small, I frequently search for kids' books. I grabbed few of the best graphic books from the recent published children's book. Graphic books help kids to relish the story and understand the syllables or words better using illustrations. So I chose a few books for my kids this year.
ZardoZi: Stitched With Love Debasmita Dasgupta
"ZardoZi" is a heart-touching book that embarks the reader on the tumultuous journey of a boy who saw a dream. As a parent, I could feel the vibes from him and how much struggle he needs to face to speak for himself.
Zardo Zi is a young boy of ten years who has a different perspective on viewing things. He has developed a strong opinion that his parents do not understand his inner feelings. He feels that they impose their wishes or desires on him as he is a single child of them and they lay high expectations from him.
In school, he has a friend Churni who trusts him and helps him even hiding secrets. His teachers also make him understand that he is A boy and need to enroll himself in boyish activities rather than taking interest in embroidery.
There is a question inside him that makes him ponder on the fact that why a child need to differentiate between a boy and a girl. Why a child is not set free to follow his heart and engage in the activities he likes?
The author has vividly depicted the tumultuous nature of a child and the mindset of parents and nearby people. Her easy to comprehend approach and illustrations made the narrative more intriguing and interesting.
Highly recommended!
Royal-ish by Amrita Gandhi
"Royal-ish" is a rollicking tale, easy to read and hard to put down. This story is intriguing and gripping from the beginning till the end.
The story is about a little vlogger who has a deep love for nature and gumboots. She discovers that she is related to the royal family of the beautiful kingdom of Bagradoo. She soon jumped at the opportunity to experience the natural wonders of the world as she was only open to a small, rainy suburb of Puddleton that consisted of a pair of dragonflies, one snail and a frog.
Bagradoo is a gorgeous place, but Lily feels nostalgic and pens down on thehis diary about his daily adventures. Between struggling to find the perfect outfit and connecting with her eccentric hosts, she begins to notice strange things going on around her.
It is intriguing to find out with her the real danger lurking on the island. I was fascinated by the childhood song:
"Only one born in the wild,
That drinks spring water as a child,
Dwells by the magic pond in spring,
Where wild lilies are blossoming......"
The author meticulously narrates the adventurous journey of a little girl and engages the kids in the storyline. Her vivid and beautiful illustrations enhance the reading.
Overall, this book is a relish to read. My kids enjoyed her journey to Bagradoo. Do recommend for other kids too.
The Padmas: Fifty Stories of Perseverance
Through this book, the author has furnished us with an understanding of the existence of these exceptional individuals and the deeds that made them what they are today, and she has given us a definitive recognition of them through her unassuming words. Her evocative narrative made me cherish each story and relish the moments.
I personally enjoyed the stories of S.N. Bose, Pandit Jasraj, and Melville De Mellow. These fifty incredible stories prove that their determination, perseverance, and courage are the only ingredients needed to accomplish remarkable things.
Overall, this book is a transformative read for all kids. Highly recommended!
The Boy with a Hundred Questions
"
The Boy with a Hundred Questions" is the story of a young child who has many questions. His quest takes him on a journey through the big ideas that make up faith, the teachings of various belief systems, the connections between faith and science and how all these together make us humans who we are.
This is a sweet story about a boy called, "Shunya". He is mocked by his friends about his name meaning zero. He was so curious about knowing why he was named so despite his parents having such a beautiful name. One day when he gets to know about his father's achievement about doppelgangers. His quest reaches another peak.
It is intriguing to read about how he discovers varied things and discovers the reality of life. He embarks on an enchanting journey through mystical tales, mind-blending beliefs and profound philosophies.
Overall, this is a book about the ways of life, mysteries of the natural and supernatural realms, the process of self-discovery and more. Highly recommended!

ReplyDeleteInteresting post and good list of books. Certainly, pictures can attract attention of viewers / readers better than simple text. In childhood days, I used to love stories told using cartoon characters. Those days these stories used to be funnies. Now real life stories are being presented in graphic form. More and more kids may find it attractive.
