Trading flesh in Tokyo: nine short stories and a play by Rajesh Talwar | Book review

 Book review:

"Trading Flesh in Tokyo" is a compelling collection that showcases  blend of intriguing short stories and a thought-provoking play. The book delves  into the realms of love, poverty, crime, passion, and the intricate web of human connections. The stories in this book are not only adorable and heart-warming but also thought-provoking, as they raise crucial topics prevalent in our society.

The stories are well-crafted tackling sensitive issues, pointing out the hypocrisy of the characters or the society itself especially in the story "The stars are the witness". The stories make you think taking you on a rollercoaster of different emotions. The simplicity of emotions and the hidden desire to do something is vividly depicted that really touched me.

The author has deeply researched the mindset of varied people to pen down their hidden turmoils , efforts to do something whether the path chosen is right or wrong but the intention is only to prove their talent that is beyond worth. Narration of the stories is fast paced and the curiousity to dive deep in the story is more firm.

Overall, the book is a heart warming read exploring so many emotions, perspectives and much more. Do grab your copy if you like reading short stories.
