Wisdom of a Yogi by Rizwan Virk |Book review

 Book review:

"Intuition is soul guidance , appearing naturally in a man during those instants where his mind is calm. Nearly everyone has had the experience of an inexplicably correct 'hunch'....."- Yogananda

In June ,the whole world celebrate "International yoga diwas" , but hardly few people know the story of first modern Guru, Yogananda. In his autobiography, he shared his methods to bring ancient teachings to the masses , teachings that were historically only passed on individually from Guru to disciple. After reading the Autobiography,  the author felt a deep urge to share his immense feelings and learnings to all individuals.

" Wisdom of a Yogi" by Rizwan Virk is a collection of his deep research and learnings of reading few of the books of Yogananda Ji. In this book , he shares the lessons from Yogananda's classic and reinterprets them for the modern age. The book is parted in five parts or fourteen lessons. In these fourteen lessons , he interweaves stories with tales of college professors, students , entrepreneurs and modern seekers.

The author pours light on Yogananda's vision , " Creation is light and shadow both, else no picture is possible". Yogananda further tells us , combining both metaphors of dream and film , that our nightly dreams are like little movies that are put on for us to watch every night. They are types of illusions. We are the directors and scriptwriters and projectors of our nightly motion pictures.

Rizwan Virk brings his scientific mind to the heart -centric subject of spiritual search, revisiting classic tales from Autobiography of a Yogi for the  modern world. The lessons he has crafted and the wisdom he has brought are a joy to experience and savour. He has beautifully narrated the hard questions of Yogananda's life from his childhood to becoming a saint in a vivid manner.

Overall,  "Wisdom of a Yogi" is captivating,  intriguing, and eye opening tales from Autobiography of a Yogi to teach the true lesson of Yoga. It pin  points that one needs to practice yoga of some kind every single day - it doesn't even matter how long you spend at it, as long as you spend some time each day renewing your connection with the Divine. Highly recommend this book to all individuals who cherish Yogananda and his teachings.

Taming the Turbulent Mind: Yogic Meditation and Mindfulness for Combating Overthinking, Achieving Stress Relief, and Attaining Absolute Peace  Deekay | Book Review What is turbulence? Any thoughts, or have you ever tried to tame any animal? I remember watching circus shows organised once a year in the city's open area for all the locals to enjoy. There I used to cherish the person who tamed the elephants or the lion (if any). But today I thought of taming my mind. Every second our thoughts are randomly moving and giving us goosebumps. Nowadays people have so many threads of work looming in their minds that they feel like completing but fail to prioritise. To dive into a river is not easy. But only a few people have the calibre to do that. The same is true with diving in your mind. This practice needs calmness of mind and anxiety levels to be very low. I had heard about meditation and its techniques to apply in your daily routine, but when I stumbled upon this book, my myths w...

The Psychology of Marketing: How Marketers Trick Us Into Buying More by Harinder Singh Pelia | Book Review Marketing is such an in-depth concept that it always transitions according to consumer preferences. The extent to which marketers go to sell their products will blow our minds away, as money comes first rather than people's needs. Even the bare detail that hints at our desires is manoeuvred to boost sales figures, often overshadowing the genuine connection between a brand and its audience. This relentless pursuit of profit can lead to practices that prioritise persuasive tactics over transparency, leaving consumers feeling manipulated rather than empowered. sales. How to make money might be in our control, but how money goes out of our pocket might not be, as psychology is in cohesion with marketing.
