"When Guns Fell Silent in the Blue Mountains" is a compelling historical fiction novel that transports readers to a critical period in Kerala's history. It is a captivating and thought-provoking book that delves into the world of political revolution, personal sacrifice, and the complexities of human nature.

The story revolves around Comrade Krishnan, the leader of the radical outfit known as 'Guard.' He faced  the imminent failure of their armed revolution in Kerala so he hopes to reignite the flame of revolution among people. And he devises a desperate plan to attack a police station with a small group of young rebels. They manage to carry out the daring assault against all odds, escaping into the unforgiving depths of the Western Ghats.

The attention then shifts to Immanuel and Veena, the two survivors, whose stamina will be put to the test over the course of the following 48 hours. They face their own personal struggles as they move across the dangerous terrain. During this time, a lot happens that would impact their lives in ways that none of them could have imagined.

As the gripping narrative unfolds, readers are left pondering the ultimate questions: Will Immanuel and Veena survive their ordeal? Will their ideals withstand the test of time? And who is the elusive traitor, and what motivates their betrayal?

The author skillfully portrays their physical and emotional journey over the next forty-eight hours. As they navigate the treacherous terrain and confront their own internal conflicts.
With its well-developed characters, intense storytelling, and thought-provoking exploration of relevant themes, it offers a captivating glimpse into the struggles of revolution and the human spirit's resilience. The exploration of themes such as loyalty, sacrifice, and the consequences of revolutionary actions adds depth to the story and prompts readers to reflect on their own beliefs and values.

Overall, the book is a gripping and poignant novel set in the politically charged atmosphere of 1976 Kerala. The varied themes add a unique flavour to it and is worth reading. Do grab it for a remarkable experience.
