The Extraordinary Life of Max Bulandi by Sidharth Singh
Book review:
"The Extraordinary Life of Max Bulandi" is a wild and gripping tale. Through the fictional character of Max Bulandi, I learnt about rock music prevalent in the 1970s and how few musicians dedicated their entire lives to music.
The story begins with Nirvana, a disenchanted journalist working for a small-time publication, who has lost hope after his girlfriend left him. He was searching for peace of mind and trying to manage himself. He stumbles upon an article about a famed rock band from the 1970s called The Flow and their frontman, Max Bulandi, hailed as a rising star in India's rock music world.
Intrigued by the article, Nirvana decides to trace the origins of The Flow and Max Bulandi and embarks on a journey that takes him across multiple cities and encounters him with some fascinating characters. Will Nirvana be able to find Max Bulandi?
The writing style is documentary-style narration, and the story captures the essence of a rebellious musical era with layered themes of fame, addition, and redemption. Since the title is Max Bulandi, it is the most important character of our story. Character development is on point with a mix of mystique and relatability. Nirvana's journey to find Bulandi's story changes his personality and also adds life and depth to each character.
Highly recommended!
