Book review : A bend in the road

 Book review :

Road trips have a long lasting impact on the traveller. Roads guide you the way along with deep insights of life that one cannot get being stagnant at one place. The paths covered has a bend or twists that indirectly pour light on the fact that life is full of twists and turns. Inspired by the road trips this book is a fascinating, captivating and enthralling collection of twenty short stories.

Each and every story is unique and weaved in different parts of our country. Covering varied themes like patriotism, tradition, religion, identity and many more. Each story takes the reader on a fresh quest for emotions, deep hidden secrets , turmoil of ongoing turbulations and much more.

In the story, "Soldier on the border", The author predicts the long perching quest of a common man to do something in his life. When this person gets a chance to do something for his closed ones or his country he is posted on the border area far away from his family and yet alone protecting his homeland from creepy terrorist. His journey from seeking his quest to only subsiding to do nothing except to see his fellow soldiers dying just for better of the countrymen evokes sympathy and rage for other side soldiers.

In the story, "The mask", the author guides the true meaning of mask. Mask can be taken for good or bad depends upon how you need it. A simplified story yet having an enthralling impact and seeking a face only to sheild a woman's integrity and true worth.

In the story,"Hospitality", the author has poured light on are newly built resort and how pandemic has lowered its cost. Rasiklal , owner of this resort do multiple hospitality tricks infront of the inspector who came for inspection of the resort only to protect it from getting low rating. But how this is manipulated and were they really the inspectors or some one else who just came to view the area was a mystery till the end.

The author has well penned each story in a unique flavour like the spices that tastes different for different dishes...His aroma of presenting varied colours of life in a magnificent way is flawless.

I liked reading these impactful stories and would recommend this book to all.

Happy Reading!

Taming the Turbulent Mind: Yogic Meditation and Mindfulness for Combating Overthinking, Achieving Stress Relief, and Attaining Absolute Peace  Deekay | Book Review What is turbulence? Any thoughts, or have you ever tried to tame any animal? I remember watching circus shows organised once a year in the city's open area for all the locals to enjoy. There I used to cherish the person who tamed the elephants or the lion (if any). But today I thought of taming my mind. Every second our thoughts are randomly moving and giving us goosebumps. Nowadays people have so many threads of work looming in their minds that they feel like completing but fail to prioritise. To dive into a river is not easy. But only a few people have the calibre to do that. The same is true with diving in your mind. This practice needs calmness of mind and anxiety levels to be very low. I had heard about meditation and its techniques to apply in your daily routine, but when I stumbled upon this book, my myths w...

Nectar on the Seven Hills - The Pure Seed - An Epic Fusion of Indian Mythology | Fantasy Adventure by Prabhu Ram | Book Review The first book in the trilogy by Prabhu Ram, " Nectar on the Seven Hills: The Pure Seed," is a gripping fantasy adventure that skillfully combines Indian mythology, historical elements, and high-stakes action. During a pandemic lockdown in the dense forests of the Eastern Ghats, Magadh and Yukti, siblings, and their friend Rudra become stranded. When they uncover an old threat, their situation takes an exciting turn, putting them in a perilous race against time to avert disaster. The focus on details, particularly in explaining the settings, the psychology and emotions of the characters, and the description of events, is truly commendable.  As they navigate the labyrinth of towering trees and hidden trails, the siblings grapple with their mounting fears and the weight of their responsibility to protect one another. Each rustle of leaves and distant ...

The Psychology of Marketing: How Marketers Trick Us Into Buying More by Harinder Singh Pelia | Book Review Marketing is such an in-depth concept that it always transitions according to consumer preferences. The extent to which marketers go to sell their products will blow our minds away, as money comes first rather than people's needs. Even the bare detail that hints at our desires is manoeuvred to boost sales figures, often overshadowing the genuine connection between a brand and its audience. This relentless pursuit of profit can lead to practices that prioritise persuasive tactics over transparency, leaving consumers feeling manipulated rather than empowered. sales. How to make money might be in our control, but how money goes out of our pocket might not be, as psychology is in cohesion with marketing. Harinder Singh Pelia’s “The Psychology of Marketing” is all about how marketing creates a bond with the audience, thus tricking the audience into dwelling deep into purchasing th...
