Book review:
"House as we know it" offers a delightful blend of light-hearted storytelling and poignant emotions.
The narration makes the reader engrossed throughout and relish those mesmerising moments. It truly makes you feel what a house used to be in earlier days when whole family used to live in one place.
The story revolves around the protagonist Samridhi who reminds of her beautiful bungalow, Sukh Sadan , a place which is left as an inheritance from her grandfather. Her childhood moments, struggle of her grandfather as a lawyer, his hospitality towards his clients, chirping moments of all family members together and much more. Athithi devo bhavo was the motto of each family those days. How they used to treat each visitor as a special person or God like treatment.
But nothing prevails so her stay at that home. Will she be able to stop Sukh Sadan from sale? How she faces the hurdles or will she bow down to situation?
The author has meticulously weaved the family background and the way family members are webbed in a family. The narrative skillfully navigates through various emotions, eliciting both laughter and tears from the reader. The author's ability to encapsulate such emotions in a crisp manner is commendable.
Overall," House As We Knew It "is a very atmospheric, heartwarming book that poses stories revealing the memories of the patriarchy of the house. Worth reading, do grab it!
