The Kumbh Conspiracy by Shubira Prasad | Book review

 Book review:

After reading the adventurous Demons of Jaitraya, and The Angels of Kailash, I grabbed this third and final book in the series The Kumbh Conspiracy. These books bring to life the rich and diverse mythological traditions of India, reimagining them in new and exciting ways for contemporary readers.

The book delves into the importance of family, human ties, and emotions. The plot revolves around the exquisite interplay between battle and family. In the Gurukul, Aishani informs Ruby about her pregnancy. Guruji, the families, and everyone else who finds out about Aishani’s pregnancy are happy. On a lovely day, Aishani gives birth to twins Divya and Darsh. Divya looks to be a responsible child, while Darsh is eccentric, which makes Aishani question whether he is a demon bloodline. On the other hand, the demons have expanded and mutated into all shapes and sizes. The narrative is about how Adheesh and Aishani, with their twins, confront demons as a family despite all circumstances.

Will Aishani and Adheesh triumph in their mission to vanquish the formidable demons, or will they be overtaken by failure? As the narrative unfolds, we witness the immense burden that rests on their shoulders, not only as warriors but as parents, and the precarious balance they must strike between protecting their children and saving the world.

Quotes from the book that piqued me:
💦"Life is very unpredictable, beta, and  more shocking and interesting than any story or novel. We  just have to accept things as they come and tackle them in the  best way we can."
💦 "To really destroy the demon species,  one has to be a bit of a demon himself. One must be true to  one’s destiny as well as think like the enemy."

The blend of ancient times with modernity makes the book immensely readable. The story ends on an intriguing note and it will be interesting to see if and how the stories move forward. The interconnection of kumbh festival with this conspiracy is worth reading.

The structure of the story is well-paced, with an undercurrent of suspense and tension that keeps readers engaged throughout. The characters, notably Aishani and Adheesh, are well-developed, with their inner conflicts and emotional depths adding a layer of relatability to the epic saga.

Overall, The Kumbh Conspiracy is an entertaining book, from the premise to the characters to the narration. There are intriguing moments that become treatises for readers who are always on the lookout for a distinctive writing style.
