Me 'N' Mine by Namita Gupta | Book review

Book review:

"Me N Mine" is a rollercoaster of the author's emotional ups and downs during and after her pregnancy. It has hilarious anecdotal incidents in which her family too went through emotional turmoil and bounced back stronger; at times more enlightened, ready to challenge yet another conventional thought or societal norm. Through this book, she tells her journey of letting herself free and letting her larvae turn into beautiful butterflies.

She begins with her dream of having twins but during delivery, her pains don't start. She narrated how doctors waited for proper pains but later operated on her and she was gifted with a baby girl. I was literally laughing when she said she was feeling pain after her operation.

Her preparations for her second child became exhausted after taking care of them or her family. I felt the same feeling when I was handling my kids. I appreciated the way she learnt from her mistakes and turned towards healthy eating despite herself a junk eater.

A few Quotes from the book that piqued me:
💧"Motherhood is a fine balance between encouragement and feedback, holding back and letting go."

💧"Nothing can be more worrisome than seeing your child imbibe the behaviour you disapprove in yourself. It’s best if we learn along the way and express the way we want our kids to express themselves."

💧"Kids are beautiful souls and if they know you need their help, they will go out of their way to help you and make you happy. All you have to do is not pick flaws and appreciate them at each step. Love and warmth will always win over any imperfection. I found everything perfect, which made them learn how to run a household at a very young age."

The author meticulously weaved her life's most precious moments and depicted the hurdles faced by most of the mothers. A truly different life and new learning concepts especially when your kids start teaching you little things in life. Her unique approach of indirectly conveying the message of "Beti padhao and Beti Bachao".

Overall, the book is a mesmerizing read which takes all mothers to relive their own moments by reading the memoir. It helps the upcoming mothers or parents to learn some tricks to pacify their kids or be prepared to seek help in need. Worth reading, do grab it!

Taming the Turbulent Mind: Yogic Meditation and Mindfulness by Deekay

Taming the Turbulent Mind: Yogic Meditation and Mindfulness for Combating Overthinking, Achieving Stress Relief, and Attaining Absolute Peace  Deekay | Book Review What is turbulence? Any thoughts, or have you ever tried to tame any animal? I remember watching circus shows organised once a year in the city's open area for all the locals to enjoy. There I used to cherish the person who tamed the elephants or the lion (if any). But today I thought of taming my mind. Every second our thoughts are randomly moving and giving us goosebumps. Nowadays people have so many threads of work looming in their minds that they feel like completing but fail to prioritise. To dive into a river is not easy. But only a few people have the calibre to do that. The same is true with diving in your mind. This practice needs calmness of mind and anxiety levels to be very low. I had heard about meditation and its techniques to apply in your daily routine, but when I stumbled upon this book, my myths w...

The Psychology of Marketing: How Marketers Trick Us Into Buying More by Harinder Singh Pelia

The Psychology of Marketing: How Marketers Trick Us Into Buying More by Harinder Singh Pelia | Book Review Marketing is such an in-depth concept that it always transitions according to consumer preferences. The extent to which marketers go to sell their products will blow our minds away, as money comes first rather than people's needs. Even the bare detail that hints at our desires is manoeuvred to boost sales figures, often overshadowing the genuine connection between a brand and its audience. This relentless pursuit of profit can lead to practices that prioritise persuasive tactics over transparency, leaving consumers feeling manipulated rather than empowered. sales. How to make money might be in our control, but how money goes out of our pocket might not be, as psychology is in cohesion with marketing. Harinder Singh Pelia’s “The Psychology of Marketing” is all about how marketing creates a bond with the audience, thus tricking the audience into dwelling deep into purchasing th...
