Gobind by Harinder Sikka | Book review

Book review:

"Gobind" is a captivating story of a common person who changed for his parents and became a soldier in the Indian Navy. Though he was born into an impoverished Sikh family, his parents tried their all means to provide him with a with a good education.

He was not good in studies, but when he saw his father helpless to make him study properly despite his efforts, he was hit so hard that it changed his life forever. He was a soldier from his childhood. He never gives up to hurdles, mockery, or circumstances.

His efforts shone, and he joined the Indian Navy, but there was something in his heart that made him feel lonely. His life takes a drastic turn when he is given an assignment in Russia.

It is intriguing to read about the entry of a girl into his life that turns his life upside down. Her persona reminded him of his promise unkept. What decision will he take? Which promise will he keep?

The author has meticulously woven the storyline, and the narration is lucid and vivid. The scenes make you feel that you are watching them firsthand. The language is simple, and the suspense level is maintained throughout, making you turn the pages to know more.

Overall, it is a thriller, a love story that keeps you spellbound till you read it completely. Highly recommended!
