Book review : Double exposure

Book review :

This is the second novel in the award-winning Annie Hawkins Green series after  the first novel, Behind the Lens. This book is a captivating, fast-paced, and unsettling read  undoubtedly a story of strength, love, perseverance, and resilience.

Annie Hawkins Green is without a doubt currently my favorite badass woman. She is smart, strong, gutsy, and kind, but at the same time flawed, with emotions (and lingering PTSD) that cause some of her decisions to take her into situations that range from mildly upsetting to life-threateningly dangerous.

A superbly crafted and thrilling sequel with enough twists and turns to keep you riveted right up to the tension-filled finale. The author has artisticly  captured the beauty and complexity of Afghanistan through the eyes and lens of Annie Hawkins—always with a tough, yet tender touch.

I liked reading this book and would recommend this book to all mystery and thriller book lovers. I am thankful to @netgalley and the publisher for providing me this book in return of an honest review.

Happy Reading!

Book review : Never enough Cowboy

Book review :

This book is Full of hope, humor, and undeniable swoon ,Deliciously steamy but still sweet. This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the fourth book in the Creedence Horse Rescue series. This book is an endearing, feel good romance that’ll literally leave you smiling…the authentically relatable characters will capture your heart from the onset of Ethan and Jillian’s story.

The Creedence Horse Rescue Ranch series continues, with beloved characters from the preceding stories continuing their own journeys, and with more quirky characters.
This has been a truly enjoyable series, I can only hope there are more stories to come.

I am thankful to @netgalley and the publisher for providing me the book in return of an honest review.

A wonderful read !

Book review : No more secrets

 Book review :

This book is an amazing and bittersweet ending to the trilogy. I love the blend of suspense, family drama and romance . The author brings her trilogy of the Carson siblings to a close with her latest novel, “No More Secrets”. Her previous stories, “No More Lies” and “No More Words” introduced Olivia and Lily, and I was overjoyed to get the chance to explore Lucas’ side of things.

Lucas is a broken soul who is presumed guilty (by his own presumption anyway) of a horrendous crime, it is easy to root for him. Shiloh, too, is so young and naïve and her innocent, protective relationship that develops with Lucas is so heartwarming, you can’t help but hope for good things for them both. Lucas and Shiloh bond over their mutual trauma, yet both are desperate to turn their lives around.

It is quite intriguing to read how they handle their ongoing turbulances and try hard to bring peace and face the hurdles for a better future together.

The author has well penned the storyline and characters are well plotted. The rollercoaster ride of twists and turns make the read more captivating.  Through these characters, she  explores guilt, fear, forgiveness, and acceptance, and examines how we are driven by desperation to do things we wouldn’t normally do.

I am thankful to @netgalley and the publisher for providing me this book in return of an honest review. I liked reading this book and would recommend this book to all.

Happy Reading!

Synopsis:

He’s grumpy, boring, and thinks it’s okay to wear a suit and tie to a smalltown bar full of lumberjacks. But when I kiss him? Let’s just say I wasn’t expecting THAT.

Harper Cole

It’s one thing to be dumped by the huge Hollywood star you thought you were going to marry. It’s quite another to move back to the small town you’re both from.

As a booby prize for being shown the door by Dex Ryan, everyone is trying to set me up with their son, their nephew, or their long-lost cousin’s gardener. Either that or they’re throwing me pitying looks that say, “You’re a big loser.”

I’m not going to put up with their patronizing sympathy anymore.

So, when I spot new-guy-in-town Christopher Young, I set out to make him mine. Or you know, pretend to make him mine. I’m still in a horrible funk over Dex, and Christopher is an uptight grump. Not exactly my type.

The fact that despite appearances, he’s gorgeous and doing weird things to my blood pressure doesn’t mean a thing.

Really.

Not. A. Thing.

Christopher Young

Hunter’s Creek, population next to nothing, is the reason I work all the time. I’m solely focused on buying the town’s lumber mill so I can go back to NYC and get my big promotion. This small town is a means to an end. Nothing more.

That is until the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen superglues her lips to mine in an unexpected and very public way. She’s not the kind of woman I usually go for with her boho dress and ankle boots, but that kiss…

I’m disappointed when she comes up for air and tells me it’s all for show. But if Harper Cole wants me to be her fake boyfriend while I’m here in town, who am I to turn her down? Being attached to a local might ingratiate me to the townsfolk and make my job that much the easier.

After all, dating Harper can only be make believe. Nothing more. Not when my entire future is at stake.

Faking It With The Grump is a grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, fake relationship romance set in the small town of Hunter’s Creek, Washington. It’s the first book in the new Second Chance Café series. Each book follows a different sister’s love story and can be read as a standalone novel or as part of a series.

Book review : The last one

Book review :

This book is  a cute romcom read with a huge cast of characters.

In this book we have Anya who works with her best friend in the local school and Owen who is a fire fighter staying and working here temporarily.

I didn’t really connect with Anya to be honest, I found her just so grumpy  Owen really was a ray of sunshine, and definitely a very patient person, extremely patient in fact. The whole storyline is about how Anya keeps pushing Owen away and Owen keeps coming back for more.

I enjoyed the friendship between Anya and her friends, I love how much they loved her and had her back no matter what. They were also willing to push her limits when she was being stubborn.

The only  strange thing i found is  that almost all of the characters in the book have had some kind of messed up childhood or situation where they had a child they didn't know about. No one had a "normal" relationship. Once again, not sure how realistic that is.

I am thankful to @netgalley and the publisher for providing me this book in return of an honest review.

Overall a good read!

Book review : Mermaid of St. Moritz

Book review :

Mermaid of St. Moritz is the fifth book in the Mermaid of Venice series. It is very fast-paced, so there isn't a lot of words spent building up the action or scenery, but I didn't really mind the lack of excessive page space spent on pretty words. The characters still felt well-developed and the scenes are vividly depicted.  Also, I see so many parallels drawn between the stories and our current political, cultural and environmental climate .

The author has meticulously entangled all the characters of all series and each character is portrayed vividly. Language is lucid and quite engaging.

I am thankful to @netgalley and the publisher for providing me this book in return of an honest review.

Overall a good read!

Book review : बंद खिडकियां

 Book review :

This book is a collection if enthralling poems that lay you amidst memories of your life and make you ponder on your doings whether right or wrong. The beautiful moments spent as a daughter with your parents is so valuable that one cannot define it in terms.

These poems made me dive in the reality and moments of togetherness that a girl always wishes for after marriage. The little desires of youth or childhood are brilliantly expressed. One of my favorite poems I want to share:

The author has well penned the poems and the verses are heart warming. To drill those memorable moments spent again is really praiseworthy.

I liked reading these poems and would recommend this book to all.

Happy Reading!

Book review : Awareness journey

 Book review :

An enthralling read that guides to introspect and change your life style a bit to maintain a balance and cope up with ongoing stress. Though we all are aware of many techniques and yoga tips to cope up but in this book I found some new strategies and tips to improve your mental , physical and nutrition of your body.

The author has portrayed all the tips through a story of Ayushi ,32 year old woman who opted to be with her father after her parents divorce. She joins a course called awareness journey lead by a mentor Selvan who was later named Oogway.

She seeks help in her rare autoimmune condition. Never heard about Energy Healing but takes a triumph of trying something new when nothing works.

It is intriguing to read about her journey and how her little efforts helps her heal not only her physical health but also her relationship and her career by simply following the instructions consistently and persistently.

The author has well penned the instructions along with visuals of these tips that can be seen using scan code. The comparative details of issues with solutions in a meticulous way is really praiseworthy.

I liked reading this book and would recommend this book to all.

Happy Reading!

Book review : And Gently flows the Ganga

 Book review :

A refreshing and thought provoking read that guides about love or who to relish when you are extremely alone. This phase occurred especially in covid time when any of us found covid prone then the whole area was blocked and the house quarantined.

The story revolves around the protagonist Kalyani, a doctor by profession. As she gets to know about her husband Major Kunal is hit by Corona , she is shaken from inside. A few days struggle , feeling helpless and unable to help her husband makes her frustrated. But her tolerance is tested when Kunal dies in covid ward leaving his family behind to grieve.

Her quest for love and be resilent towards circumstances is an invisible thread running through. A guru and meditation being back her  long-wanted happiness but there are hidden   fears buried deep inside her heart that needs to be healed.  It takes more than psychotherapy and meditation to reach the truth  to face her fears and find her truth.  Will she be able to fulfill her quest of love???

The author has well narrated the storyline and the upside -down heaps of twists and turns and life changing scenarios make the read more captivating. Language is lucid and easily relatable.

I liked reading this book and would recommend this book to all.

 Book review :

Road trips have a long lasting impact on the traveller. Roads guide you the way along with deep insights of life that one cannot get being stagnant at one place. The paths covered has a bend or twists that indirectly pour light on the fact that life is full of twists and turns. Inspired by the road trips this book is a fascinating, captivating and enthralling collection of twenty short stories.

Each and every story is unique and weaved in different parts of our country. Covering varied themes like patriotism, tradition, religion, identity and many more. Each story takes the reader on a fresh quest for emotions, deep hidden secrets , turmoil of ongoing turbulations and much more.

In the story, "Soldier on the border", The author predicts the long perching quest of a common man to do something in his life. His journey from seeking his quest to only subsiding to do nothing except to see his fellow soldiers dying just for better of the countrymen evokes sympathy and rage for other side soldiers.

In the story, "The mask", the author guides the true meaning of mask. Mask can be taken for good or bad depends upon how you need it. A simplified story yet having an enthralling impact and seeking a face only to sheild a woman's integrity and true worth.

Book review :NOX

 Book review :

An utterly fresh and unique take on the shifter genre. Dark, gruesome, and brutal, but also heart meltingly sweet, and filled with real emotions. (and a ton of sex)

This is a MM  love story. It's hardcore and animalistic with alpha/beta dynamics. It takes place in the current world, where stupid humans decided it was a good idea to play around with an ancient book.

This is an intricate story, alternating between the present day and flashbacks to earlier events. Told from both Luca and Nox’s points of view, we get their perspectives on their growing understanding of the mystery, as well as their blossoming love affair.

The premise that scientists are exploring unorthodox ways to cure fatal illness, or even dabbling with resurrecting the dead, is frighteningly close to reality. Adrienne Wilder cleverly blends Egyptian lore with modern science and a touch of magic, to create an event that’s just close enough to possible to make my skin crawl.

The author has well weaved the storyline and added a lot of spicy scenes to read. Characters are well plotted.

I am thankful to @netgalley and the publisher for providing me this book in return of an honest review.
Happy Reading!

Book review : Lake Bride

 Book review :

Lake Bride A Sweet Western Romance (Holiday Brides Book 5) by Shanna Hatfield was a wonderful story and clean romance. This is a sweet story of rediscovery and forgiveness that tugs at the heart.

Bridger has continuously gone above and beyond to serve his country, but he now finds himself at a crossroads in his life. When he inherits a cabin from his great uncle, he is hoping that spending time there will give him the clarity he needs but he never expected that it would bring Shayla into his life.

Shayla is a nurse who is cheerful and always sees the best in everyone and every situation. From her first meeting with Bridger they are drawn to each other in a way that neither expected and that only escalates when they spend time together.

Bridger and Shayla couldn’t have been more diverse, but they balance each other to perfection as she not only shows him love but gives him hope for the future as well.

I loved that this story involved Bridger's ancestors and their history in the small town and how that history was being preserved and how that influenced and changed his current life's decisions. There is healing and friendship and love. I just love Bridger's character. He is not your typical alpha soldier, but is a kind, compassionate, loving man.

The  author has well researched many areas of army details and beautifully weaved the storyline. The characters are well plotted. Language  is lucid and heart warming.

The book is a clean, wholesome read with a happy ending and lots of feel good moments. I am thankful to netgalley and the publisher for giving me this book in return of an honest review.

Happy Reading!

Book review : Buck Up, Buttercup (Montgomery brothers #1)

 Book review :

This book has a lot of promising attributes: Opposites Attract, Grumpy and Sunshine, The Cowboy Love Interest, etc. all really great stuff that readers love to read about. However… there was the non-necessary thrown in racial slur towards an indigenous character that happens so casually but it’s never brought up again or used a plot device to correct other.

Randi is a soon to be college graduate returning to Oregon to finish her last year of school. She finds some affordable housing a little bit out of town. She’s been assured it is a quiet place filled with other studious women. Surprise surprise, it’s not, it’s a party house filled with lots of intoxicated people. She obviously freaks out and makes a scene right then and there.

Buck is planning on moving his trailer to the property. He wants a little more space to move and he has a friendship with the girls living there. Buck steps in and protects Randi when she gets upset for being lied to about the condition of her room and the quality of the house. A friendship slowly blossoms from there and as things tend to do, one thing leads to another.

The author was very clear on what she finds appropriate behavior. No drinking, no drugs, no sleeping around.  Everyone who does something that Randi doesn’t approve of has something bad happen to them. Sarah (drinking) ends up in the hospital and almost dies due to her binge drinking. Angie (drinking and violence) gets thrown out of her home. Buck (drinking and flirting) gets drugged while at a party and looses control. Daisy (partying) gets sexually assaulted and is saved in the nick of time before actual penetration could occur. Poor girl, Randi  had three different guys interested in her and they all wanted to date her. The author shows her beliefs that if you are “good” then you will be desired and if you are “bad” then you deserve bad things to happen to you. It’s not a very subtle message that is being portrayed .

Book review : Green House Haunting

Book review :

Green House Haunting is the perfect level of mystery and eeriness that leaves you grasping the edge of your seat as you wait to see what happens next. This book was creepy and spooky, perfect for the upcoming Halloween season. I loved that there was a mystery to be solved and that this was an actual ghost story.

The story is set in a  small town Cottage River in the early 1980’s where  Andy is hired by the Ill mannered Lillian to write an article about her mother’s death and the disappearance of her little brother, Linus. Andy is to write her story while staying alone in the isolated “Green House” where the whole  mystery began. As Lillian suspected, the Green House has a story to tell and Andy has the inquisitive mind and the guts to listen.

While the Green House has it’s haunting, Could Andy’s mother be seeking her out in this lonely house too?

The author has well penned the  ghost story loaded with mystery, suspense, and some effective twists and turns. There’s a thread of loss that runs throughout. The thrill factor makes it more engrossing.

I enjoyed the book . I am thankful to netgalley and the publisher for providing me this book in return of an honest review. I would certainly recommend this book to all horror book lovers.

Happy Reading!
