'The Portrait Of A Secret' is a spy, mystery thriller , gripping tale of espionage, politics, and history. It spans over different locations with different intelligence agencies operating on secret missions. The book is a captivating thriller that keeps the reader on edge from beginning to end. Set in the bustling city of Delhi, the story follows senior IAS officer Kamal as he investigates the theft of two paintings worth a whopping Rs 400 crore from an agricultural research center of the Indian government.

The story also explores a subplot revolving around the planning of terrorist attacks by Jaish. Kamal is a dedicated officer who goes to great lengths to complete his mission. As he delves deeper into the case, he stumbles upon a buried secret related to Indian cinema and the Partition, which leads him on a perilous journey that changes the global geopolitical scenario forever.

This subplot adds a layer of complexity and raises the stakes significantly, forcing Kamal to confront a web of deceit and danger that extends far beyond the realm of art theft. Those final scenes were as tense as they come, so unpredictable and unnerving. It was impossible to not imagine  yourself in Kamal’s shoes, trying to process what it would feel like to be in his position, not only facing the most dangerous of all things but also keeping the nation safe.

 The author's impressive attention to detail and extensive research makes the story highly immersive. The narrative is well-paced, with the tension and suspense building up gradually. The character development is excellent, with the protagonist Kamal portrayed as a determined and intelligent officer who is willing to go to great lengths to uncover the truth.
