Sukoon by Wajid Shaikh | Book review

Book review :
"Sukoon" is a mesmerizing collection of nazms, poetries, soulful couplets and life lessons that takes readers on an enchanting journey through the depths of human emotions and experiences.

Few of the verses I want to share:
💦 Soch kaisi hainn, emaan kaisa hainn Lafz bata dete hainn insaan kaisa hainn —Wajid shaikh

Words of a person and how one deals with others depict the character of a person. A soft hearted person will think twice before hurting others. Its the words used and how clarify the thought process going on....

💦"Kaafi tanha hu,aur tanhaa hi kaafi hu Meinn kaha suntaa hu Apni zid ka aadi hu Yeh kya baaki hainn
Jo haawi kar rahe hainn Hum ab zinda hainn nahi Zinda hone ka haq adaa Kar rahe hainn"
—Wajid shaikh
I am alone and fully satisfied being alone. I live to satisfy my wishes or desires as i don't listen to anybody. The one's who want to pressurize know very well that I am only completing the task of being alive....very truly said...

Many persons who are hurt by their closed ones don't bother caring for other and try living on their own terms. A person who listens is not because he cant do his will , it's just that he cares.

💦 "tum jis din logo ki baatein nazarandaaz karna sikh gaye unke kiye pe chalna unke kahe ko badalna sikh gaye us din tum zindagi jeena sikh gaye kyuki koi kisi ko aage badhta dekh khush nahi hota bahoot kam hain aise jo waakai bhala sochte hain ".
Truly said, life changes the day a person decides to listen to his instincts rather than other people as other can only manipulate but reality can be felt only by you.

The author has beautifully narrated the truths of life in simple couplets, nazms that are really heartwarming. Vivid and simplicity is its best virtue.

Overall, a good read and worth reading!

The Great Indian Tamasha: Adventures of a Wedding Planner by Rasika Bhatia

Book review:
Life is full of adventures. I got a chance to read one of such memoirs where the author gas experienced many tamashas or adventures in each of her wedding as a wedding planner. Mostly high society people involve wedding planners to manage the wedding and give it a unique flavour of their choice with minimum effort of their and are happily able to spend lots.

The Great Indian Tamasha weaves together emotions and adventures of planning those special wedding events in 22 short stories. Most stories are set in South Delhi, involving big bucks and high spending to show off the riches. The book is a nonfiction, memoir chronicling the life of a wedding planner. I've read many memoirs before but this is one of a kind that a person can never forget. A life full of tamasha and unique experiences blended well with dark humour and satire.

Though Wedding organizers deal with bridezillas, drunk grooms, and parent tantrums, yet at the end of the day, they deliver the work with all their hearts. The author has openly shared her witty behaviour or stubborn to not give up even when the conditions were against her. I didn't like the part where  she was stabbed with a pen as the customer wasn’t impressed with the decor.

People invest their hard earned money over the functions to make it more pretty with long lasting memories. But they never stop their work for marriages of their loved ones. But pay for the time and labour to wedding planners. As a wedding organizer is investing time, labor, and talent to showcase the best for your event. The least we can do is treat them as human beings.

The author has meticulously weaved the stories in a gripping , captivating and spicy way that one who starts reading can't stop till finished. Each story depicts a life lesson that predicts the hard truths or I must harsh reality of so called high status people. The combination of the sketches and the writing, with its cinematic flair, added to the amusement beautifully.

Overall, the book is full of adventures , dreams, reality , humour , hilarious moments and life long lessons learnt. In this book, I find a fresh perspective of looking into matters when stuck. Worth reading!

Panacea: The Gang Story by Anushka Mehta | Book review

Book review:
"Panacea: The Gang Story"  is a roller coaster ride of emotions which will make you go through a wide variety of emotions whether of a normal person or a gang supplying drugs. None of us ponder how brutally people or young adults get effected by drugs but the one who supplies stays away from it. Is it because of business or because its really dangerous? Think for a while and state why people who are always around drugs  don't touch it or feel like having it , it's because they are well aware of the consequences.

The story revolves around the gang members Srishti, Laksh, Rishi , Om , Liz and few more. Most of them are orphans picked up from ground or streets and provided food and shelter and given a deadly job of trading drugs in return. Though each one of them is like a kid to Rishi but with some deadly rules that are unwritten or unsaid. The story is depicted from Srishti perspective and how they suferred living on streets or in mansion living upto deadlines. Srishti falls in love with Laksh. But love is not easy way but only a stress reliever.

Their life takes a dramatic turn when Samar, one of their own, is banished from the house by Rishi and subsequently joins their rival gang led by John. This unexpected event sends shockwaves through the group, testing their loyalty and unity. It is quite intriguing to read how their lives get entangled and how much they can sacrifice for their love and till which extent.

The author's portrayal of their camaraderie paints a vivid picture of a family forged not by blood but by the commonality of their struggles. The writing style is gripping, allowing the readers to easily connect with the characters and their emotions. She masterfully weaves mystery, drama, and intense emotions into the narrative, creating an immersive reading experience.

Overall," Panacea: The Gang Story" successfully explores the theme of belonging, illustrating the profound impact of connections and the lengths one is willing to go for the people they consider their own.

Moh se bandhi mai

🍎 सुनो, मुझे परमपिता परमेश्वर से मिला है;

        बस ग़रीब ज़रा सा साथ मिल जाता है,

        तो मैं इठलाने लगा हूँ किसी बादल सी!

The author proposed PERMA which is an acronym for the five elements of  well-being, according to Seligman.
 - P - Positive Emotions (Feeling Good)
 - E- Engagement (Being completely absorbed in activities)
 - R- Relationship (Being authentically connected to others)
 - M - Meaning (having a purposeful existence)
 - A - Achievement (sense of success and accomplishment)

Quote from the book that aroused a sense to introspect and change for better :
💦 “Happiness is not conditional. Don’t be happy when. Be happy  despite. Life is never perfect. Something is always wrong. But don’t  let the wrong erase all the right.”  -

Me Power by Lanysha T. Adams | Book review

 Book review :
"Me Power" is an amazing, and informative book about empowerment. It redefines empowerment and provides illustrations in order to make us understand that empowerment is something that comes from within us and not from some external source.

The author proposes five guiding principles which are key to what she calls 'Me Power' and this is self knowledge and principled action coupled with the principles that provide a framework for understanding empowerment and how best to self-develop.

She offers several real-life stories in Me Power, some of them purposefully harrowing, to demonstrate how “average” people can rise above super-tough circumstances. Some of the self-help advice in the book is well-known, but she jazzes things up with her own unique perspectives.

Overall, "Me Power"  is an interesting mix of academic research and jargon alongside down-to-earth examples that pack a punch. At times I felt the prose could have been more focused, but overall this was a helpful read.

Author Yeager has a knack for drawing characters with just the right snark hellbent on covering up their vulnerability. And Yeager’s romance chops are on full titillating display when Francie is re-introduced to an old crush. Escalating danger, accelerating romance—When We Were Friends is one fun precipitous ride! I highly recommend it.

Life Dust A Novel by Pam Webber | Book review

Book review :
"Life Dust" is the third novel by Pam Webber featuring the character Nettie, who was first introduced in The Wiregrass. It takes place in 1971 and tells the alternating stories of Nettie and her childhood friend and now fiancé, Andy. It is, at times, heart wrenching, but also uplifting.

The story  revolves around two young people separated by the Vietnam War. Andy is a lieutenant in the military and has been sent overseas to lead a platoon of long range reconnaissance operators. His dangerous assignment worries his fiancé, Nettie, who is a nurse-in-training. She’s going through her own struggles concerning hospital politics. That alone can’t keep her mind from worry so she volunteers at an organization dedicated to finding missing and captured soldiers. She also befriends an old man, Mr. Pepper, at the hospital, who has his own painful struggles from the past that he hopes to resolve. Each character learns about what we leave behind in this world and how that life dust changes others.

Nettie's integrity stands out as she avoids revealing what she knows about Mrs. Woods, but how long can she hold out? As for Andy, can he keep his troop safe, and, at the same time, complete his mission? Will Nettie and Andy be together again?

The novel deftly touches on the issues of the times including women’s rights and Vietnam war protests. The descriptions of landscape and flowers of Hawaii are very well done.

An amazingly well researched, historically accurate novel, LIFE DUST is a page turner. For those who lived through this era, it will bring back a lot of memories.

A Hate Like This A Gamble on Love Mom-Com #2 by Whitney Dineen & Melanie Summers | Book review

Book review:

"A Hate Like This" is the second book in A Gamble on Love Mom Com. The narration of the story makes you turn the page on and on to know what happens next.

Moira is a single mother of three rowdy boys. So Moira lost her husband to a hosting accident and is now trying to be mom and dad to her 3 boys while trying to run her dinner.

Ethan is an entertainment lawyer and he needs a break from his world so he heads to Gamble for a sabbatical of sorts , to write a novel and spend time with his best friend who is now happily married to Moira’s brother.

They are also two people who have been badly hurt by people in their past. So when Ethan takes Moira to his home in LA for a fabulous vacation, she doesn't trust that she's "good enough" for him. And when she tells him as much, he thinks she doesn't love him enough! It's ok-they get their "happy ever after" in the end.

Overall,This is a well written story which is fun, and entertaining, with family, friendships, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to a heartwarming and compelling page turner.

I received a free copy of this book from @netgalley  and the publisher and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Elf King's Sacrifice (Elves of Eldarlan Book 3) by Elisa Rae | Book review

Book review:

"The Elf King’s Sacrifice" is a light, fantasy romance tale with a romance between a powerful elf king and an unusual human princess. It features friends to lovers amid curses and chronic illness.

This story is King Emerys' story, as told in a sort of 12 Dancing Princesses re-tell. Kate is a princess and when she falls asleep on her first night as a princess she finds herself in the Elf King's realm. She isn't like the other princesses and Emerys is intrigued, choosing her to be his wife. She believes that it is only so that she can break his curse, but she is willing because she has an illness that makes her weak, and her King fears she will never marry, so he, against a promise he made to her, finds her someone - a not nice someone. When Emerys offers marriage, she is happy to comply - but of course they fall in love! But all doesn't goes smoothly because Emerys must find his sister who is being held prisoner, and it could cost him his life to get her back.

Overall, the book is a sweet romantic story of love and loyalty. Several very satisfying endings.
