R.S.V.P.: A Novel by Ruchira Khanna | Book review

 Book: R.S.V.P. : A Novel
Author: Ruchira Khanna
Publisher: ‎ Independently Published
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Rating: 5/5

Book review:
This book is insightful about finding your way through hardships and what’s important in life. The book is full of truthful and moving experiences in a refreshing way.

The story begins with the presentation of Jay and his canine, Yogi. Jay is an introvert, kind, and meticulously convinces his visitors of the event even though they could not think of it. He has been dumped by his better half and has lost all his affection forever. Enter his cousin Gina, who pushes him towards his life, and he chooses to go on a journey—just with Yogi. Life again takes a turn when he is wrecked and arrives on the opposite side of the Pacific Sea, on an island where cash has no worth.

Jay's life flips around when he gets adrift somewhere in the middle of the ocean on a fabulous paradise-like island, where he learns the genuine significance of presence. Each inquiry regarding his life is handled in a way that assists him with relinquishing the outer stuff of realism and embracing existence with appreciation, completely without assumptions.

Fresh injuries are mended, close-to-home scratches are investigated, and connections and their significance are mulled over. Attempt as I would, I couldn't resist the urge to pose a couple of inquiries to myself as I read along.

I admired the scene when there was a book club meeting at his place where all the reviewers met to discuss the books they read. Gina was busy hearing the conversations and felt the need to read the book, like many other non-readers. I was mesmerized by this chapter, enduring me in the memories of book club meetings online and offline.

The author's composing style is drawing in and vivid, keeping readers enamoured from start to finish. The pacing is even, with snapshots of tension, delicacy, and extraordinary sentiment consistently woven together. Every section unwinds new layers of the characters, drawing readers deeper into their lives and their common processes.

Each chapter begins with an inspiring quote that tells the reader about the chapter. The chemistry between a dog and his master is beautifully depicted. It is clear that only animals are our true friends, as humans are selfish beings.

By and large, I cherished the book and emphatically advised individual readers to check it out. This book is a must-read for individuals who like finding out about existence and pondering life. I cherished it.

The Mars Conspiracy by Razi | Book review

Book: The Mars Conspiracy
Author: Razi
Publisher: Tree Shade Books
Genre: Science fiction
Rating: 5/5

Book review:
"The Mars Conspiracy" by Razi is a pacy, exciting read. The book has two courses of events going on that meet up perfectly toward the end, making it a show-stopper. The book has each component that makes a story astonishing: thrill, fantasy, activity, experience, misfortune, and science.

The story is set in Simdega, Jharkhand. We are acquainted with a large group of characters and a brief look at 'Panther'. Three vloggers find flattened crops as they investigate the land obscure, just to be helpless before a cop far away from the real factors of life. On the opposite side, we get a visit through a recently sent-off science place, and that something vile is at play is obvious at every turn.

An equal story brings us into the domains of Egyptian folklore, in the long run prompting a rebel pharaoh, Akhenaten, and their Mars association. Is there life on Mars? Have we found it? What insider facts have we opened, and could we at any point deal with them? These are a few powerful inquiries that the story jumps into.

The author has done a lot of examination, which is noticeable from the word go. The sort of world creation he has done, mixing old and new-age craftsmanship and epitomizing the value of each character, is an encounter to see. The two courses of events are running equally, and how, in the end, both interface and everything appear to check out is an expertise in itself. The cover page is very complete as well and fits well with the substance inside the book.

The speed is lively, and the composition is enrapturing to such an extent that it's difficult to put the book down. Even though it gets going unexpectedly, the power develops, guaranteeing an undeniably exhilarating encounter.

The characters are meticulously depicted, with their secret thought processes adding layers of secrets that kept me drawn in till the end. The author has depicted the characters in an evocative manner that keeps the readers hooked up till the end.

Generally speaking, "The Mars Conspiracy" is an enrapturing novel that will leave readers considering the secrets of the universe long after they've turned the last page. It is worth reading; do grab it.

Saint Richard Parker by Merlin Franco | Book review

 Book: Saint Richard Parker

Author: Merlin Franco
Genre: Self- help, Spirituality
Publisher: Barnett Publishing
Rating: 4/5

Book review:
"Saint Richard Parker" is a story with themes of love, growth, and enlightenment. Follow the protagonist, Richard Parker, as he navigates through a particularly rough patch in his life.

The quest for Nirvana takes Parker to several countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia to name a few. The book is written with subtle humour which is highly entertaining. We find that the author has pointed out the ironies and vicariousness of religion with a skillful pen. He points out the defects in almost all religions and the book is not a critique of any one faith.

Parker's life hits a turning point when his corrupt boss discovers his misconduct and fires him when he thinks his career is about to climax. The journalist begins a self-realization journey, rethinking his spiritual and romantic life.

Beyond self-discovery, the book appeals to travel, food, and culture enthusiasts. Merlin Franco adeptly intertwines cultural norms and politics, offering a nuanced perspective beyond tourism. While the well-researched travel references captivate, unfamiliarity with Indian culture and regional nuances may pose challenges. I found it hard to understand several references in the book.

Through Parker's journey, I got real-life-like experiences of the Hindu culture and religion. Also, this story teaches valuable moral lessons about integrity and work ethics.

With plenty of lighthearted humour and satire sprinkled throughout, author Merlin Franco demonstrates a remarkable storytelling ability. I especially enjoyed Francos' writing style and skill of character development, both of which kept me deeply entrenched in the story throughout. A great read for all ages, genders, and cultures!

Book review:
"Part Of Life" is a heart-touching story of Rohit and Sneha who meet through Nisha. Rohit falls in love with Sneha's beauty on his first meet. Eventually, when they start talking, both feel friendly vibes and they can continue talking for hours. Their long-distance relationship relates to many couples or friends who feel they can talk to each other or share their emotions.

Their cosy relationship comes to a halt when Rohit begins loving her and wants to share his deep emotions with her. But he has yet to get a similar response from Sneha. So he feels he should indirectly ask about her real feelings for him through Nisha. He requests his sister to ask Sneha what he feels about him. On hearing their conversation secretively, his emotions were literally shattered. He could never accept the fact that she considered him only as his good friend and nothing else. On the contrary, he was in deep love with her but it was one-sided.

He distanced himself from her but fell into the trap of depression. He begins living alone and tries to focus on his studies. After a long gap, their interaction again begins and he still feels the same. Sneha could not feel the same for him ever. For her, he was always a good friend on who she can rely on. This on-and-off journey of their love or one-sided love and how he copes with his turmoils is quite relatable.

It is intriguing to read about the ways Rohit copes with his failure in love or he keeps cursing her. The twists and turns in their journey were quite relatable. Will Sneha ever be able to accept his love?

The author has tried to present the love story of a one-sided long-distance relationship. His deep efforts to predict how love works whether you like it or not. He meticulously predicted the hurt created if someone rejects your love proposal but that can never be the end of life. It is part of life.

Overall, this book is a short read for all cosy romance lovers. Worth giving it a try.

If I Have To Be A Soldier by Nikhil J. Alva | Book review

Book: If I Have To Be A Soldier
Author: Nikhil J. Alva
Publisher: Harper Collins
Genre:  Literary and Contemporary Fiction
Rating: 5/5

Book review:
"If I Have to Be a Soldier" is a captivating read that hooked me from the beginning till the end. I was quite intrigued by the book cover where I found two persons face-to-face and a few of the rats climbing the trees. The story moves around these two persons who have a secretive past that gets unfolded layer by layer.

The story begins when Captain Samuel returns to his native place after long for a mission assigned by the Indian ARMY. Samuel is introduced to a traitor who is caught up by the commandant and brutally tortured for days. Samuel needs to find out from him the complete list of his supporters. But he is startled to find out that this traitor calls him a coward. On close examination, he gets to know that this traitor is none other than his childhood friend Che or Sena.

As the events unfold, both of them find themselves saving the wild animals, the army and the local community. I was intrigued by their background and how they turned out to be as they are today. The characters provide vivid illustrations of the perspective of people and how your childhood actions predict the personality of a person.

The strength of the book lies in the opportunity to depict the emotions and turmoils of people who suffered during that period in Mizoram.  The way the lives of Sena, Samuel and Martha are related makes it a more captivating read.

The author's narration clarifies and moves readers to the magnificent inclines of Mizoram and the unforgiving genuine elements of war. The characters are incredible and high-level, each having an outstanding personality that imparts a deep impact. Sammy and Che are both smart figures, and they fight to oblige their commitment with their internal voice urging them to do something useful for their natives.

The book carefully puts across the perspectives of the different sides of the story - of the military and local people from the third individual perspective, and at the same time shows the mercilessness of the events, exercises and plans that were worked there.

I was furthermore familiar with new information, like the hour of Mautam in Mizoram, where bamboo shoots pass on after the sprouting season, inviting rodents into their fields and causing outrageous starvation. A critical number of the unquestionable events in Mizoram which were in advance dark were brought out in the story.

It exhibits the way that the recklessness of people in power can provoke a change of life, contemplations, mind science and along these lines, the way of thinking of people and how it can provoke crushing outcomes. Through the story and the characters, it considers the movements that, expecting have been raised, could have provoked an overall exceptional picture and how it is absolutely incongruent with this present reality.

The first uncovers an understanding of a semi-secret battle in Indian history, making it both educational and provocative. I would endorse this book to readers who are enthused about obvious fiction, particularly stories about less famous disputes. I would moreover recommend it to readers who value character-driven stories and books that research the complexities of war and character.

So generally, this book, however, has a few imperfections in narrating makes it encouraging in having the option to make individuals more mindful of the issues and the historical backdrop of the Mizo nation through this scholarly and contemporary fiction and consequently, it is prescribed to the ones who are anticipating beginning finding out about it.

"Ten Promises" is a persuading helper that ensures not just to investigate the wild waters of support but to change them into an excursion of revelation and improvement.

The book is coordinated into twelve astute segments, with the underlying ten given promises to express responsibilities that empower supporting, authentic, and enduring associations among parents and adolescents. She guides about the traumas or hidden fears that restrain the parents from doing their responsibility in a better way. Her inspiring quotes and anecdotes make the parents shake from within to introspect how they handle the beautiful journey highlighting common mistakes and supporting them by providing relatable solutions.

The author's structure is clear and thoughtful, resonating with a story voice that is equally genuine and supporting. Her ability to distil complex mental thoughts into connecting with a huge urging is a show of her skill as both a specialist and a communicator. By making a consistent and extensive family culture, parents foster an environment where youths feel regarded, heard, and maintained as they investigate the promising and less encouraging seasons of life.

Two Decades For The Kiss by Satish K Chowdary | Book review

Book: Two Decades For The Kiss
Author: Satish K Chowdary
Publisher: Evincepub Publishing (2024)
Genre: Fiction
Rating: 4/5

Book review:
"Two Decades For The Kiss" is a demonstration of the flexibility of the human soul and the groundbreaking force of adoration. Through its convincing story and clear symbolism, it welcomes readers on an excursion of self-revelation and reclamation.

This story is about Sanjay and Hashira who were dearest companions and going to fall head over heels. A couple of the scenes during this were astonishing and incredibly intriguing, and afterwards comes the bend. The two of them then, at that point, get caught in the past of their folks and afterwards things get a piece contorted.

I was intrigued by the story to find out who is the real couple. I was literally fascinated by the way Hashira tried her level best to find out the truth behind her past and help the true love meet.

The author presents a strong excursion of self-disclosure and disclosure as Hashira and Sanjay face the mysteries of their interweaved fates. As they dive further into their folks' past, they reveal long-covered privileged insights and set out on a mission to retouch the divided bits of their friends and family's lives. En route, they experience difficulties and obstructions that test the strength of their bond, yet their unflinching assurance and shared help push them forward.

Quotes from the book that piqued me:
🌴 "Remember, life is filled with challenges, but it's also abundant with blessings. Embrace each  moment and cherish the love you have for each other."
🌴 "Today is about creating  beautiful moments, not dwelling on the sadness of the past."

Overall, This book is an emotionally charged examination of friendship, family, and the never-ending search for the truth. This book excels because of its deep emotional resonance and well-developed characters.

Riot by L. L. Ash & Pax Sinclair (Hard Rock Girls Series, #1)

 Riot

by L. L. Ash & Pax Sinclair
(Hard Rock Girls Series, #1)
Publication date: May 12th 2024
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Synopsis:

“He saved me in that group home when everything I’d ever loved was stripped away. He saved me with his smile, his kindness, and his guitar.”

Tayler

I’m the leftovers that nobody wanted; a casualty of the foster system. Now that I’m 18, I have nowhere to go. No job, no home, but I have my bestie Haze by my side, and together we’re going to make it. I love music. Yeah, everybody says that, but I know I have what it takes. We’re going to find a way to reach the top. Kind of like Dakota, the front man for Kings of Ash, except not as a-hole-ish and muscley as him. Ugh, the muscles. We were in foster care together, me, Dakota, and Haze. That’s where I fell in love with him. But, he was older than me and got kicked out of the group home when I was only fifteen. The guy ripped my effing heart out as he walked out that door. It’s a shame, really. He’s the only person in the world who ever really understood my love and need for music. He saved me in that group home when everything I’d ever loved was stripped away. He saved me with his smile, his kindness, and with his guitar. Since then, Dakota has changed and hardened in more ways than one. I’ve been trying my best to avoid him, but our paths have crossed and now he’s back, famous and hotter than ever.

Dakota

I gaze at Tayler for the last time while my mind repeats the same mantra: she’s your foster sister, you can’t be in love with her. But every part of me screams otherwise as I walk out of that group home. Aging out of the foster system at 18, I left behind a 15-year-old girl who knew I couldn’t stay. It broke her heart, but it’s better to be hated than to be in jail for loving her. Letting go of her was the toughest thing I’ve ever done, but I had to chase my music and put her behind me. Plenty of women came and went in my life, but none could fill the void that she left behind. It was always the music that drove me forward, pushing me to become a part of the punk Seattle music scene as the front man for Kings of Ash. Just when I thought I had moved on from Tayler for good, she blows back into my life–smoking hot and determined to make her mark. Even though she despises me for abandoning her all those years ago, I can’t help but admit to myself that I still want her. No, I don’t just want. I need.

What do you want to see?

What do you want to see?

Today when I spoke to my mother, she shared that she would visit Old Age Home to meet all the elderlyI was startled to know that there is an Old Age Home also in our small city. I was left speechless for a second and in the meanwhile, my mother asked me What do you want to see. Like every normal person, I say Luxury, Good Health and Stress-free life. What does a mother want to see?

Hmm, a mother! I was a bit baffled to answer. I say that she wants to see only her children to be happy and in good shape of mind and soul. I was indirectly reminded of the selfless love of all mothers. The Mother never bothers with her condition or requirements but is always ready to serve their kids. But does the same follow for the kids too?

My mother who also works as a social worker is always available to help others. She guided me through the pattern. Here it follows:

Parents work day and night enduring hardships and struggles to ensure well being of their children. They try per their capability to provide relevant education and good jobs for their kids. In the quest to maintain these, they unknowingly are fulfilling all the needs of their children and they forget to make their kids realize their worth.

Children while studying move to hostels and later move to different cities leaving behind their loving parents far behind only waiting for their kids. The period spent in waiting vanishes like nothing but the bond that keeps you together is somewhere lost. Children learn to live alone and feel their parents are like their ATM Cards.

A reality check is done when these ATM Cards get empty or are in no position to feed any longer either physically or financially. What do you do with ATM Cards that expire? We throw the cards that are useless or not in a position to serve our motive. But Parents are living beings who ache when their loved ones throw them in these Old Age Homes to live their lives and don't even bother to ask them how they are.

Where lies the fault? Are parents wrong in spending their every penny for their children? Is Western culture much better in this Scenario? What should be changed?

Her questions made me think and I tried to figure out what a parent can do?

Never reveal your earnings to your kids

Whatever parents earn should never come into the picture of their children. Children should be told as per their needs and never the complete truth.

Spend Quality time with your Children

Parents and kids should spend quality time together so that a bond is formed that does not fade away with time. When children observe their parents respecting their grandparents and spending time with them, a habit of togetherness is inculcated.

Never leave yourself empty-handed

Parents should never spend their hard-earned money completely on their kids. They should always keep a definite amount or minimal amount for their living in the old age. Never let your kids say you are dependent on us.

Try to relive your life with your partner

Old age is a certain period when one seeks companionship and a person who understands. Let your children have their space and enjoy your upcoming childhood.

How to provide love to people in OLD AGE HOME?

Spend some quality time with them

People who are left by their loved ones as useless or not required also need love. Try spending some time whenever possible with them. They also want to share their emotions and laugh with those who love them.

Engage them in a useful manner

Try to find the best suitable work for them that they can easily do staying there. The motive is to keep them so busy that they don't get depressed.

Conclusion:

Everyone must try to see the emotions or feelings of their loved ones. Whatever we sow, we will get back the same. SOW the seed of love and togetherness.

Everything is Politics: AGREE or Not?

Everything Is Politics: Agree or Not?

“Ideas are great arrows, but there has to be a bow. And politics is the bow of idealism.”- Bill Moyers

Today I sat down and was wondering looking at the banners and these political leaders about the next leader. Nowadays when all political parties are trying their best to win the elections, it becomes so difficult to choose. Politics is such a crucial part of every person's life.

Aren't we leaders? Is politics only referred to political leaders or is much more than that? My mind started boggling with ample times I have been struck with situations where politics was a must.

Now our coming generation is hard to handle as per their advancement in technology and less tolerance power. Parents need to take extra classes or attend webinars to understand how to tackle their kids. Both scenarios whether parents have a single child or more children have their issues. Siblings throw tantrums or hit each other only to seek the attention of their parents. Is that politics? Yes, to show off one's importance to the other.

Daily issues continue but what matters the most is how politically their parents need to handle them. Parents do politics to maintain peace and decorum of the house. In school, teachers follow politics to attain goodwill and show off their capability in front of senior staff members. Students do notice every act of their ideals and follow where they feel or find it appropriate. So teachers are indirectly teaching politics to their students.

As we grow up(Teenagers) we start feeling attraction towards the opposite sex. Boosting, Invalid reasons to drink or smoke, indulging in sex, using abusive language and much more become a part of normal life. ( Scenario or need changes with place or society of kids) In my teaching career, I heard a student say that you are not worthy of becoming our friend as you don't drink. I was startled to hear the opinion of young kids. Kids feel that such drugs are part of boosting or showing off.

In adulthood, adults engage in relationships and use politics to seek their goals or false methods to impress their lovers that they are the right choice for them. Many times some adults cross their boundaries or forget the limits of decency to acclaim their love or dominance. Quite a few of them enrol themselves in jobs or high-paying IT sector and begin their journey of politics where the target to be achieved is the motto of their existence.

“Leadership is lifting a person’s vision to high sights, the raising of a person’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.” Peter Drucker

Wherever I turned my eyes, I could feel the vibe of politics. Every relation or person executes politics to fulfil their dreams else they are found grappling with health issues. Even a married person too says politically to his better half to maintain the decorum of the house. Family issues of dominance of power or who should be given priority also make the person throw tantrums as per the need. I feel daughters-in-law who stay in joint families become prevalent to more of politics as they need to handle so many people at a time.

If every person is playing politics then why do we keep on saying that politics is thirty? One person knows how to handle things on a small scale or large scale. The basic difference between political leaders and common people is that they are playing politics openly on a national level.

Let's change our perspective of politics and choose who can play the right or just politics and make India, a developed country.

“Opportunity dances with those who are already on the dance floor.” H. Jackson Brown

Yes, the opportunity is here between us. Let's wake up from our embedded thoughts and choose the right person for this upcoming election. Hope the best leader wins and takes India to the heights of glory and peace where no person starves or is jobless.

Book review:

"From Drift to Shift" affirms what we as a whole naturally know about the shortcomings we possess, however again and again neglects but when we understand our spot on the planet and reach for our most elevated ideal, astonishing things can occur.

In Part Two, the author guides about improvements or arrangements with which we precisely ought to make that shift, while Parts Three and Part Four spotlight on the most proficient method to move and how to guide your life in the correct course after the shift, separately.

The book is written in a conversational, engaging style - maybe you're plunking down with the individual over a feast and they are sharing their story, including the bare essential and extreme stuff, and you are generously getting it. Every one of the people began by carrying on with a day-to-day existence that was not their ideal, whether willingly or by the existence conditions that they were naturally introduced to, yet she doesn't debase their prior selves for the decisions that might have added to their despondency. All things being equal, she verifiably outlines the decisions and their effect, while additionally recognizing that those effects were vital to accomplish the shift that accordingly occurred.

This book utilizes a bit-by-bit way to deal with catching the idea of moving. In four parts, the author discusses understanding the need to make a change in "Why Shift?". Then, she makes sense of different cycles of moving, "When to Move", and "How to Move" Lastly, encourages the reader on the best way to feel in the wake of going through a change in "After the Shift". After dissecting and thinking about the sections of the book, one might become familiar with a portion of the right perspectives to embrace in the journey for bliss or essentially keeping up with it.

The author's portrayal is exceptionally elegant and she figures out how to persuade us that we as a whole need to make a change in our lives sooner or later en route to track down equilibrium, significance, and joy. Every individual highlighted in the book has effectively found their energy, done the best that they can with it, and emerged as victors in their lives. Furthermore, genuinely, why stay caught in enduring while clearing our path through it could lead us to a delightful way out on the opposite side?

All the stories were inspiring and encouraged the reader to fight for themselves as life is a blessing once attained and will never be back once gone. I liked the takeaways shared after each chapter or story. It indirectly highlighted the need to sustain and fight back all hurdles on the way. But I didn't like the use of the word S*** and F*** many times in the book.

In general, "From Drift to Shift" was a pleasant read, and it has made me look at my life through an alternate focal point. It was elegantly composed and a fast read.
