In Pursuit of Salman by Ekta Kandhari

"In Pursuit of Salman" is a story of obsession, redemption, and deep longing for love. The book narrates the life journey of a girl who is dismissive of her mother's love and faces numerous threats.

The story follows the story of Tara, a beautiful girl with sharp features. Her mother's reaction to her birth is cold, and she keeps her distance from her, as she was not expected to be her wish. Tara is taken care of by her father and grandparents. They become the only form of love and safety for her. But a mother's love is always longed for by a child.

Instead, she is only subjected to her mother's anger and threats and cold feelings for her. This becomes part of her life, and gradually she becomes used to it. But when her mother is expecting again, her mother's perspective changes, and she showers all her love on her second child. This coldness and warmth to the other child infuses a longing for her mother's love more than jealousy of her sister.

But her life grapples with fear when her grandparents leave the world, and she is left lonely to face the harsh and cruel world. Her dignity is challenged many times, but she is left alone and harassed instead of being supported and comforted. No person listens to her story.

It is intriguing to read about the ups and downs of her life and how she secretly longs for love and comfort from her mother and family. One such day when her friend introduces her to a person who resembles Salman. But his qualities are far different from Salman's.

Will Tara find the love of his life? Is this love or an illusion of love? How does she manage to come out of the vicious trap of illusion or love? Will she ever receive love from her mother?

The author has tried to depict the life of a child who is disowned by her own mother. She vividly depicts the emotional trauma of a child and the depressing condition of a mother who enters motherhood without a complete mindset. This trauma of a mother leads to a double trauma in the mindset of a child and shapes her thoughts and perspective in a negative and fragile manner.

I was completely drawn to the story, but I did not like how no person took Tara's mother to a psychiatrist and let a little child suffer for so long. I could not access how a father could not understand the emotional condition and traumas of his child.

Overall, it is a one-time read.

Taming the Turbulent Mind: Yogic Meditation and Mindfulness for Combating Overthinking, Achieving Stress Relief, and Attaining Absolute Peace  Deekay | Book Review What is turbulence? Any thoughts, or have you ever tried to tame any animal? I remember watching circus shows organised once a year in the city's open area for all the locals to enjoy. There I used to cherish the person who tamed the elephants or the lion (if any). But today I thought of taming my mind. Every second our thoughts are randomly moving and giving us goosebumps. Nowadays people have so many threads of work looming in their minds that they feel like completing but fail to prioritise. To dive into a river is not easy. But only a few people have the calibre to do that. The same is true with diving in your mind. This practice needs calmness of mind and anxiety levels to be very low. I had heard about meditation and its techniques to apply in your daily routine, but when I stumbled upon this book, my myths w...

The Psychology of Marketing: How Marketers Trick Us Into Buying More by Harinder Singh Pelia

The Psychology of Marketing: How Marketers Trick Us Into Buying More by Harinder Singh Pelia | Book Review Marketing is such an in-depth concept that it always transitions according to consumer preferences. The extent to which marketers go to sell their products will blow our minds away, as money comes first rather than people's needs. Even the bare detail that hints at our desires is manoeuvred to boost sales figures, often overshadowing the genuine connection between a brand and its audience. This relentless pursuit of profit can lead to practices that prioritise persuasive tactics over transparency, leaving consumers feeling manipulated rather than empowered. sales. How to make money might be in our control, but how money goes out of our pocket might not be, as psychology is in cohesion with marketing. Harinder Singh Pelia’s “The Psychology of Marketing” is all about how marketing creates a bond with the audience, thus tricking the audience into dwelling deep into purchasing th...
