Good Things are Around the Corner by Anil Bairwal | Book review

Book review :
"Good Things are Around the Corner" is an empowering novel that celebrates the strength and resilience of women who dare to defy societal expectations. It encourages readers to follow their passions, make their own choices, and embrace the unpredictable journey of life. The book serves as a reminder that the pursuit of happiness often requires courage, sacrifice, and staying true to oneself.

The story narrates the struggle of a final year student at Delhi University, Devika. Her only suppressed passion is Painting. She is supported by her friends Ahana and Mohini. Though she belongs to a conservative family but she tries to overcome all hurdles and obstacles and starts painting in secret. She falls in love with a fellow student Chaman who evoke as a coward when she spoke about marriage.

Devika's family ties her knot with a wealthy person but all in vain. Her marriage merely works for 3months and she files a domestic violence complaint. After taking the divorce decree without any family support , she is to start afresh. Will she be able to acheive a breakthrough as a painter? Will she ever find her true love?

The author's artistry shines through in the compelling narrative centered around Devika, a young woman who tenaciously pursues her dreams despite familial opposition. The book is divided in three parts and each chapter begins with a quote that not only relates to brief of the chapter but one social issue. The way the whole story is narrated through the characters is outstanding. His unique and meticulous way of evoking awareness to societal issues and how women should try to overcome it is adroit.

Quote from the book that piqued me a lot :
💦"It is never easy to get anything out of a politician."
💦"You can tell a lot about a person's life by the type of tea one drinks."

Overall, "Good things are Around the Corner" tells an unforgettable love story of a strong willed woman hell bent on following her heart. It is a testament to the indomitable spirit of individuals who dare to challenge societal norms and pursue their dreams against all odds.

Taming the Turbulent Mind: Yogic Meditation and Mindfulness for Combating Overthinking, Achieving Stress Relief, and Attaining Absolute Peace  Deekay | Book Review What is turbulence? Any thoughts, or have you ever tried to tame any animal? I remember watching circus shows organised once a year in the city's open area for all the locals to enjoy. There I used to cherish the person who tamed the elephants or the lion (if any). But today I thought of taming my mind. Every second our thoughts are randomly moving and giving us goosebumps. Nowadays people have so many threads of work looming in their minds that they feel like completing but fail to prioritise. To dive into a river is not easy. But only a few people have the calibre to do that. The same is true with diving in your mind. This practice needs calmness of mind and anxiety levels to be very low. I had heard about meditation and its techniques to apply in your daily routine, but when I stumbled upon this book, my myths w...

The Psychology of Marketing: How Marketers Trick Us Into Buying More by Harinder Singh Pelia | Book Review Marketing is such an in-depth concept that it always transitions according to consumer preferences. The extent to which marketers go to sell their products will blow our minds away, as money comes first rather than people's needs. Even the bare detail that hints at our desires is manoeuvred to boost sales figures, often overshadowing the genuine connection between a brand and its audience. This relentless pursuit of profit can lead to practices that prioritise persuasive tactics over transparency, leaving consumers feeling manipulated rather than empowered. sales. How to make money might be in our control, but how money goes out of our pocket might not be, as psychology is in cohesion with marketing. Harinder Singh Pelia’s “The Psychology of Marketing” is all about how marketing creates a bond with the audience, thus tricking the audience into dwelling deep into purchasing th...
