Book review:
"The Ex -Factor" by Harini Srinivasan is a perfect blend of madness,chaos,laughs and relatability. The story introduces a colorful cast, each grappling with their own experiences of joy, sorrow, and turmoil.
The story revolves around Oindrilla , a young working woman juggling with life, parents,specially a mom , a person with high portfolio who has an opinion about everything, an annoying boss, office politics , a best friend and an ex lover who comes back from the past. She's trying to balance her professional life working at an NGO EOFA that imparts equal opportunity for all and personal life, but to no avail.
Her parents , house help, two dogs chipki and choco and Hawkeye (her boss) are seeking both her time and attention at the same time. Her best friend Sweety flabbergast her with her engagement with Divya and pondering for more attention to solve her issues. On the other side, her cousin , Ankita have issues of her own, and Oinks gets caught up in their mess too.
However, a field trip to Shillong comes up as an escape opportunity for her. But Oinks and her life twists go hand in hand. In an unforeseen turn, her once true love, Vivek Rao, reenters her life as a colleague. Now, in addition to her daily challenges, Oinks must navigate the enigma of her heart. With dilemmas, distractions, and inner dialogues as constant companions, she unexpectedly finds herself tumbling headlong into love with Vivek once again. Will she be able to control her desire of longing him?
The author adeptly guides us through Oindrilla’s realm, where friendship, love, familial bonds and workplace dynamics intertwine seamlessly. The various cities she traverses come to life on the pages, woven into the narrative with a touch of humor that consistently elicits smiles. The author's ability to seamlessly intertwine laughter and poignant moments makes for a well-rounded reading experience.
Overall, This book is a light fluffy rom-com read. The narrative was lucid with easy usage of language which also makes it beginner friendly. Nicely plotted mild paced story. Worth reading, do grab it !
