Life Is a Battlefield: Insights from the Eternal Wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita by Priya Arora

Life Is a Battlefield: Insights from the Eternal Wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita by Priya Arora

"Life is a Battlefeild" is an insightful representation of universal truths that highlights the enduring relevance of the Gita in our lives today. In this book, I get to learn about Vedanta, the most profound revelations of the rishis, the philosophical inquiry into the essence of our being.

The book comprises of 12 insightful chapters from Vedanta, and begins with one verse from the Gita itself. Each chapter is full of verses and key takeaways explaining the truth behind our existence.

I admired the metaphor of clay to explain the concept of non-duality. Each pot is, in effect, nothing more than its constituent day. If pots had egos, one pot might think of itself as better than the other pots based on its more elaborate form though, fundamentally, it is just clay, no different from any other pot. Similarly, Vedanta teaches that Self, pure attributeless consciousness, called by any name- Brahman, Atman, God- is the reality underlying all creation, both animate and inanimate.

The author has meticulously penned the varied verses from Gita, buddha and Vedanta. Her deep research and thorough facts with simple translation for lay person to understand makes it more evident to read and follow. Her best part is the key takeaways from each chapter and detailed explanation on happiness.

The author pours light on the fact that Hapiness lies in cultivating contentment that envelops you in satisfaction, irrespective of passing joys and sorrows as transient as summer and winter. She emphasises on the verse from Gita that those who identify with their unchanging dimension, remain unmoved even when buffeted about by life from all sides.

Overall, it offers perennial wisdom, relevant across time and faith. This also addresses existential questions that have perplexed humanity since the dawn of civilization. I learnt ample lessons and tried to imbibe few of them in my life too.

Highly recommended!

The Society: 300 Years from Now: Time Travel to a Brave New World , A Utopian Sci-Fi Fantasy Series for Adults by Radu Niculescu

The Society: 300 Years from Now: Time Travel to a Brave New World is a Sci-Fi fantasy and the first book in the Society series.

The story revolves around Alex, an IT professional, who wakes up 300 years into the future into a utopia with no nations and no money and no institutions. But soon he discovers that his own ideas may be central to this utopia. How will deal with this new life?

I loved how, in future that values such as mindfulness and mutual respect shape daily life. With no institutions to enforce order, the people thrive in a culture that celebrates each individual's contribution. The world-building is excellent. The twists and turns make it an unputdownable read.

Overall, I loved this book and would strongly recommend it to all.

Stress to Zest: Stories and Lessons for Personal Transformation by Aritra Sarkar

Stress to Zest: Stories and Lessons for Personal Transformation by Aritra Sarkar

"Stress to Zest" by Aritra Sarkar felt like a quiet, honest conversation I didn’t know I needed. It’s not filled with advice or quick fixes—and that’s what makes it beautiful.

Each story in the book reflects a kind of stress we all deal with—burnout, heartbreak, fear of not being enough, family expectations. But instead of jumping to solutions, Sarkar invites you to slow down and actually feel. The stories are so real, you’ll find yourself nodding, maybe even tearing up a little. It felt like someone was putting words to emotions I hadn’t fully understood myself.

The characters are diverse, their struggles relatable, and their transformations inspiring. Aritra Sarkar clearly has a storyteller’s soul—his love for narrative shines through every page. Even if you’re someone who usually steers clear of self-help books, the storytelling here might still pull you in and give you something meaningful.

What really stayed with me was the book’s underlying message: stress isn’t the enemy—it’s a doorway. A passage into deeper self-awareness, if we’re willing to face it. That idea alone made me reflect differently on some of my own life stressors. Instead of resisting or wishing them away, I found myself wondering: What is this stress trying to teach me?

That said, I did feel a couple of the stories were unnecessarily long. The detailing sometimes felt like it belonged in a full-fledged novel rather than a self-help book, and that slowed the momentum for me. But even then, the emotional payoff was often worth the extra pages.

Do read my review here too.

Face Exams with Confidence : With SWOT Analysis by M K Devidasan

Face Exams with Confidence : With SWOT Analysis by M K Devidasan | Book Review

Exams Can Be Handled with Confidence It has the feel of a personal cheerleader rather than a book. Instead than overloading you with study tips, it teaches you how to change the way you think about tests. It tackles the largest obstacle—fear—in the first chapter. I admired how the teachings were straightforward, useful, and based on both facts and anecdotes from real life.

The ability to change from fear to concentrate was the aspect that most impressed me. It helped me realise that confidence is a skill that must be developed. I wanted to attempt the time management, memory, and test-taking strategies immediately since they seemed so realistic and achievable.

Each of the book's 28 brief chapters, which are well-organised, addresses a real issue that both professionals and students deal with, such as procrastination, brain fog, memory loss, or the pressure to perform well. I adored how useful it is. You receive easy-to-follow, scientifically supported advice on time management, memory strategies, and maintaining composure throughout an exam. Additionally, it helps you improve your thinking by teaching you how to overcome setbacks and mistakes without losing hope.

It consists of a series of humorous and engaging stories combined with action steps, giving the impression that a personal trainer is assisting the student in maintaining focus, composure, and engagement. Anyone who want to approach their tests strategically and manage stress with a good outlook in order to confidently accomplish their goals should do this.

Kural Inspired Stories Book #1: The First Letter & The Forgotten Path by Rushani Mahendran

Kural Inspired Stories Book #1: The First Letter & The Forgotten Path by Rushani Mahendran

'Kural Inspired Stories: The First Letter & The Forgotten Path' is a wonderful adventure that kept me engrossed till the end. The author has created a timeless story by fusing time travel with timeless ancient wisdom.

The plot is on Kya and Neo, brothers who encounter Thiruvallavar, the renowned Tamil poet-philosopher, after inadvertently stumbling into a gateway to the past and a mysterious town while trying to avoid their grandmother's history lesson. They soon set off on a mission to discover a treasure and unveil a secret. Will Neo and Kya find the forgotten secret?

My children found it easy to relate to the author's excellent and admirable idea. Growing children, who will be our nation's future, will benefit greatly from it. There are several puzzles in the book that will make readers want to solve them, and they will undoubtedly remain interested throughout.

Children can easily understand the straightforward language. Thiruvalluvar's profound knowledge and wisdom are presented in a kid-friendly way in this book. Children will embark on an exciting voyage with Kya and Neo as they travel across time in this book.

The narrative gently reminds young readers that real information is lived, questioned, and comprehended rather than memorised. For kids and adults who enjoy stories that leave you thinking long after the conclusion, this book is a must-read since it is both profoundly touching and educational..

Saira’s Dream by Sanah Singh

Saira’s Dream by Sanah Singh | Book Review

"Saira's Dream" is a captivating story that held my attention through to the very end. The author has blended imagination and drama.

The story revolves around Saira, a budding writer who has given up herself on her goals. Her enthusiasm for writing, however, abandoned her. She soon discovers that she is stuck in her own incomplete story, deep within her thoughts. Can she break free from the narrative and rekindle her love of writing?

I found Saira's journey quite compelling. The author proves that there is always time to try again, even if life forces us to give up on our passions. I felt as though I was there with Saira, supporting her in facing her uncertainties and discovering her voice.

The plot kept me interested, the characters are well-developed, and the writing is captivating and thought-provoking. Each twist kept me wondering the next move.

All things considered, it strikes a chord with its examination of perseverance and human development.
