Book review:
"Reasons Why Not to Date Your Nemesis" fits the classic enemies-to-lovers trope flawlessly. It's a charming, chemistry-filled, light-hearted, and steamy romance.
Ben Crawford and Olivia Knight, far from being high school sweethearts, share a history as mortal enemies, connected in an unconventional way. Now as adults, Ben takes on the role of the new sheriff in town, and Olivia finds herself unable to keep her thoughts away from him—mostly thoughts of various ways to get rid of him because she despises him that much.
However, when they decide to channel their animosity and frustration into different outlets, they venture into an arrangement of enemies with benefits. While it may seem straightforward, their complicated past and concealed secret creates an underlying tension. Will they be able to maintain this uncomplicated agreement, or will they discover the reasons why not to date your nemesis?
This marked my first foray into Melanie Munton's work, and I'm thrilled to find that she has numerous books for me to explore. Her writing style is engaging, making it feel as though a friend is casually sharing a story, which I found incredibly appealing. It's this light-hearted and easily digestible quality that draws readers deeper into the narrative.
I adored this book for its blend of humour and heartache. It felt authentic that they didn't immediately move past their past conflicts, as some unresolved issues required time to heal. The characters and the story itself left a strong impression, and I highly recommend it to others.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
