WINGS OF THOUGHT by Dr. Kaustubh Sonalkar

WINGS OF THOUGHT by Dr. Kaustubh Sonalkar

Wings of Thought

"Wings of Thought" is a rollercoaster ride of emotions and how your emotional thoughts can have wings to embark you on different rides at the same time. Thus lucid yet enthralling ride made me introspect a lot of feelings simultaneously.

Few of the verses that piqued me a lot:

❤️ "Life

The most treasured gift of nature is Life, but on a returnable basis. Life is the ultimate and passionate manifestation of nature. When the seed becomes a sapling and the egg a duckling, It celebrates this invisible energy of nature. Our life is energy in motion. Make it positive, passionate and purposeful Live a legacy, leave a legacy. It can be taken away at any time. Make the most of every moment of this gift, as long as you have it."

Here the author guides about life. He simply states that life is a treasure and one should make full use of time. As once the present moment is lost, it is lost forever.

❤️ "Time

is like a present, said the old wise men Open it and use it wisely For once it’s gone, it’s gone forever."

Time should be properly used. The author motivates the reader to use time wisely. Time has the power to make or eradicate any person. So it depends upon the person to value the worth of time.

The author has blended the varied feelings in few words that it has a deep impact on the reader. His choice of emotions like fear, hate, time, love and many more makes you rely the value of life and how to utilise it completely.

Overall, an enthralling read.

The People in our Lives: Everyday Psychology by Dr Gagandeep Kaur

The People in our Lives: Everyday Psychology by Dr Gagandeep Kaur

People in our Lives
In the bustling city, every person is seen running after daily chores they are engaged in. Even I find myself doing my routine jobs and reading books. Amidst all these, I am curious to know the psychology of human beings and how they get to know each other better. To explore my interest, I grabbed "The People in our Lives: Everyday Psychology" by Dr Gagandeep Kaur. I get startled by the content of the book that contains concise but varied explanations of the human psychology.

The book narrates the vicious cycle of birth and death. The author vividly shares her belief that we all have a soul and our body is the medium to go through the cycle of life and death. Every person is adhered to fulfil his karmic cycle irrespective of his religion, caste or creed. In each cycle of birth and death, there is a new opportunity to learn how to live our lives better in that particular epoch.

I learnt the reason to study life. I get to better understand ourselves and those around us and to live our lives in a good and productive manner as opposed to just passing our time on earth before we die.

The author shared the 8 Stages of Development Theory. These stages were:

1. Infancy

2. Early Childhood

3. Preschool

4. School Age

5. Adolescence

6. Young Adulthood

7. Middle Adulthood

8. Late Adulthood

She guides how Each stage shapes our life in terms of growth and development. Different stages in our lives have different needs. Relationships do change, and each relationship has a different perspective on viewing things and matters. What seemed extremely relevant at a young age will no longer be of much concern a few years down the line.

The author vividly explains that at each stage, individuals face and ideally master new challenges, which Erikson called psychosocial crises. Successful resolution of these crises leads to the development of a healthy personality and the acquisition of basic virtues.

A life well lived should also have an equally dignified death. Death is inevitable. It will happen to all of us. If a long, happy life has been lived, then death should be seen as a joyous event—a passage from one lifetime on this earth with a certain set of souls, filled with love, until it is time to return to our Maker.

We fear death because we do not know what comes after. No one who has died has come back to tell us about the afterlife. There are many accounts of life after death, but what if those are just figments of someone’s imagination? That said, no one has ever seen God either, yet we all believe in a higher power. We love Him and pray to Him.

Personality is not something we are born with. Instead, it is a combination of multiple factors:

Genes, Parenting style, Early relationships, Physically attributed, Education and Experiences.

The best part of the book is that I get to know the top 5 best personality tests of 2024 as:

1. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

2. Big Five

3. CliftonStrengths

4. DISC Profile

5. Enneagram

The author has shared her personal experience and guided in a vivid and evocative manner about the psychology of humans. Her vision to understand the personality of any person makes it easier for readers to learn human psychology.

Highly recommended!

Connected: Free to act, bound to endure by Sumit Kapoor

Connected: Free to act, bound to endure by Sumit Kapoor

Connected

"Connected: Free to Act, Bound to Endure" is an interesting story investigating the outcomes of our activities and what they can mean for our lives. Mixing an imaginary tale with an important exhortation, this book is a grasping read from the first page to the last.

The story follows Suhail who is a writer on a mission to uncover the aggravation and secret stories behind his companions' lives. Suhail uncovers accounts of human affliction as he traversed India researching and interfacing with individuals. Through such experiences, Suhail figures out how indiscreet and self-centred acts can make annihilating impacts, spiralling a long way past their beginnings. Kapoor's portrayal of such characters features the more obscure parts of human instinct, showing how his activities set off rushes of distress in others' lives.

Kapoor questions the contrast between 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬. Each occasion has a reason, yet you should convey this reason with you. The characters are laying out a key relationship with their readers that is profoundly fitting. To make things receptive and appealing, the story switches back and forth between the present and the past.

The book centres around the reality of how our activities and our words are answerable for destroying as long as somebody can remember. A few activities can lead to such injuries that can't be recuperated till the end of an individual's life. Everything has its own outcomes, and at times they can end up being exceptionally risky.

The author's talented plotting of this story is amazing. The language is 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 and 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞. A simple-to-follow plot with faultless portrayal. The response to yourself in each situation is to be valid. A careful reading of this book will give adequate comprehension of this. For my purposes, this book has a tonne of associations too.

Overall, a good read. Do recommend.

The Garden of Delights by Amal Singh

The Garden of Delights by Amal Singh: Book Review

The Garden of Delights

"A Delight is only as good as the person using it. Use it in times of elation and glee, it will give you the most. Use it in times of sorrow, it will take a lot from you, while still giving desired results, but results you may not want at that time. Use it wisely.”

Do you like taking a walk in the garden? What if that garden has a special variety of flowers that bring delight in a certain manner? I stumbled upon a book with mystical flowers on its cover. I grabbed the book and eagerly explored it. To my gaze was an illustration of a beautiful garden full of colourful flowers and a bog. This garden has six parts, each covered by several categories of flowers with significant power or delight.

This special garden, located in the city of Sirvassa, holds flowers of many kinds. It is taken care of by a caretaker who is responsible for gifting these flowers to needy people. The caretaker is gentle and kind, but he was cursed by Goddess Whim and is endlessly searching for a flower to cure his curse.

During his search, he is set to save the garden from a bigger woe and prevent rot from spreading in the garden. If this rot spreads, the flowers that once used to provide pleasure will become a reason of pain. His journey begins with the onset of a mischievous boy with special powers.

It is intriguing to read the maze of a garden and its hidden powers. I was eager to know how he saves the garden and himself from the curse.

Quotes from the book that piqued me:

🌸"Each metal has a purpose. Heat drives that purpose."

🌸“You intended it to fly. Like a bird would fly. Flight in itself is complicated and consists of various elements. Your intent and your words must account for that.”

🌸“Eyes are deceptive receivers, and look for hidden clues while reading. They might betray you. Ears, on the other hand, take the story as it is, without judgment.”

I admired stories within stories here. It helped me peek into the past of the Caretaker, snippets from his assistant's journal, and Iyena's slow understanding of political turmoil within the city while trying to acclimate to her new surroundings. All these layers and threads build up gradually and meet at just the right moments. It is a story that takes a little patience, but it's absolutely worth it.

The author has used immensely wonderful worldbuilding that engrosses the reader from the beginning till the end. The dreamy world created with glimpses of colourful flowers immerses the reader in its beauty. The characters vividly depicted the fierce resolve or the strength in the Caretaker's silence.

Overall, "The Garden of Delights" immerses its readers into a world that’s dreamy, whimsical, and full of colour. This was a delight to read, a real thought-provoking tale that I'll be thinking about for a little while yet.

Why Not Me? - 2 : The Pain of One-Sided Love by Anubhav Agrawal

Why Not Me? - 2 : The Pain of One-Sided Love by Anubhav Agrawal

Why Not ME?

Have you seen any lovers falling in love? I have too seen many, but sometimes it is hard to say no if you don't love the other person who is fallen for you. I am reading several English and Hindi books this year, but I was eager to read one Hinglish book too. So I grabbed a lovely romantic story, "Why Not Me? - The Pain of One-Sided Love" by Anubhav Agrawal. My choice of book led me on a mesmerising journey of love, betrayal, and falling in love again.

This book reminded me of the era when mobiles were introduced and people used to use the Hinglish method to convey their messages, as many of them didn't know how to express themselves well in English, unlike these days. Reading this book felt like reading a depressed and reserved person who was feeling betrayed after her lover left him, and he is finding ample reasons to find out the reason why she left him.

This book is part 2 of the series "Why Not Me?—A Feeling of Millions." It starts where the previous one finished. Though I didn't get a chance to read the previous one, this book gave me a complete overview of his life. Anubhav shares his feelings for Zoya and how he felt when she left him and didn't bother to answer him or feel guilty about her doings. This left him feeling heartbroken, diving into the messiness and emotional rollercoaster of his feelings. His genuineness made me feel so relatable many a time. His story made me feel the pinch of a tough breakup and the heavy weight of guilty feelings.

Anubhav is trying to recover himself from the deep waters of love and feel for himself. In the meantime, he meets Saloni, who seems to help him out of the deep waters of loneliness. But Anubhav is not yet mentally prepared for a new relationship and doubts everything.

It is intriguing to read about his fresh start with Saloni. She becomes a beacon of light in his darkness. But it is hard for Anubhav to believe that he can fall for someone again after Zoya. His inner fears are haunting him and making it hard to love and trust anyone. I was eager to find out if his love would become a success or not.

Anubhav has well portrayed his emotions, and his Hinglish makes it feel so relatable. He has effectively conveyed his inner fears, insecurities, and hope that pulls the reader into his world. The narrative is lucid, with vivid illustrations of little moments of loneliness, silences that hit him secretly, slow emotional growth, and a simple life that is like that of a common lover.

Anubhav has meticulously depicted the basic downfall of any person who gets ditched in love and how he starts behaving after the ditch. His portrayal made me feel the insecurities that were making him go slow and doubt his love as he fears getting ditched again. Saloni is like a ray of light who brings new hope into his life and helps him heal.

Overall, it is a romantic love story. Highly recommended!
