Book review : The Village House

Book review :

The village house is a captivating and riveting read that indulges a strong storyline .

The story revolves around the protagonist of the story Kat janna who receives a solicitor’s letter summoning her to Omodos, a mountain village in Cyprus.

Her trip to Omodos, was bit inconvenient in early days but slowly she starts cherishing her childhood memories. She falls in love with her roots and relishes the relaxed pace and warmth of her cousin and the Cypriot people she meets.

Grappling with her emotions, she returns home. But in London all is not well for her agency; her world is threatened, turned upside down, forcing her to question everything she believes in and has worked so hard for.

She travels back and forth and has to face the fact she has to sell the only connection left to her family. Its quite intriguing to find out about can Katianna have everything? Will she find a way to hold onto her business? Or will the pull of her heartstrings and the village house entice her to start over in a place closer to home than she ever imagined?

The author has well penned the storyline and hooked me from the very first page till the end. The climax of the story is bit thrilling giving a sensation of what will Katianna do or what will be her decision.

I loved reading this book immensely and would recommend this book to all.

Happy Reading!

Book review : A price to love

Book review :

"Love is priceless", a common saying but it demands a valuable price that one pays with a smile. At times paying the price is pinching but yet one pays because of love. Such a heart touching story of a woman is shared in this book.

The story is about love , grief , friendship, marriage, career, sacrifice and fun. The protagonist of the story , Sonia Ajmera who works in the biggest media company has everything that depicts her to be accomplished and satisfied person. But there is lot to explore.

The story moves back and forth. The events in the story are controversial at times . Sonia has a life that majority people would envy but she is damaged from within. She is falling apart from inside that turns the story and comes out a lot of hidden emotions and secrets.

The other characters perspectives, ideology and the way all the characters are brewed up in an adroit manner by the author is commendable. The language of the book is lucid, straight forward and captivating.

I loved reading this book and would recommend this heart touching story to all.

Happy Reading!

Pregnancy is a phase where health altering decisions can have a long term impact on the mother and the baby. These 1.5 years hold the potential to alter a female's body and mental health for her entire life. And nothing will get in her way, not even her grumpy next-door neighbor, Liam O’Flannagain.

Soon, though, the dream Bridget’s been waiting for is becoming a living nightmare. The renovations, not to mention the budget, are out of control, and someone—or something—is determined to get her out of the castle. And if that wasn’t enough, whenever she’s with Liam, the castle’s ancient past seems to come roaring to life, sweeping them along in a story they’re apparently destined to relive.

If she is to uncover the castle’s secrets, Bridget will need Liam’s help to figure out exactly how they’re connected…before the tragic past repeats itself.

Goodreads / Amazon

—

SNEAK PEEK:

I tried not to let myself get entirely swept away in the fantasy as we moved around the staircase to reach the ballroom at the back of the castle. “I know there’s going to be some—or, well, a lot—of bad news once we get started. Karen said it’s been a good decade since anyone’s lived here, but I’m hoping most of the neglect can be taken care of with the changes I already have planned. Like most of the plumbing is going to need to be torn out anyway to add bathrooms to the bedrooms upstairs.”

“It’s a good job we’ll be going down to the studs in most the rooms, aye.” He scribbled something in the little notepad he’d pulled out as we talked. “When you don’t use pipes for this long, you’ll have leaks. We’ll also have to be on the watch for mold, of course. And lead. I expect we’ll have a fair share of lead paint to remove, age this place is.”

Leaks, mold, lead… I tried to laugh the rising stress off.

“And then we’ll have to start talking exorcists. I’m sure there must be a poltergeist or two.”

“Haven’t heard of any poltergeists,” Cormac said, tone matter-of-fact as he stopped to poke at another damp spot on the wall with his foot before going back to scribbling. “Folk do like talking ’bout the curse, though.”

I paused. “Curse?”

He flashed me another warm smile, one that actually reminded me a bit of my granddad’s. “I don’t put much stock in all that, myself, but people like spinning that yarn after the brutal string of luck this place’s had. You know, the Sloane family had her built after the buildings around the old Norman keep burnt. They had it ’til they were chased out around independence. Originally English, you see. Ever since, the castle’s spent more time empty than lived in. Chris Carlson, last owner of this place, only had her a year before the financial crisis. Sunk all his money into real estate during the Celtic Tiger, so wasn’t a good time for him.”

I hummed, preferring not to think about the housing collapse when I’d just sunk most of my own money into property.

“Some say the Sloanes cursed the place ’fore leaving.”

Not caring to stew on that either, I pushed the doors to the ballroom open. The same breathless feeling I’d had at the edge of the property swept through me again. With the way the backyard sloped away from the house, it looked like we could have jumped from the back door into the lake. The wall of floor-to-ceiling windows said whoever had designed the house had wanted to bring the the lake inside as much as I did. With a couple dozen white-draped tables and ambient lighting, I could have the most romantic restaurant in the county. That was certain.

Cormac was looking at me expectantly, and I realized I’d entirely missed whatever he’d just said.

“Sorry, what?”

He laughed lightly. “Don’t you let any of that worry you, lass. If you care for those tales, most the ghosts ’round here are supposed to be completely harmless. The Bean an Locha stays out there, even.” He motioned toward the windows.

Author Bio:

Jessica Dall finished her first novel at the age of fifteen and has been hooked on writing ever since. In the past few years, she has published a mix of fantasy and historical fiction novels, along with a number of short stories that have appeared in both magazines and anthologies.

In college, Jessica interned at a publishing house, where her “writing hobby” slowly turned into a variety of writing careers, including creative writing teacher and, her current job, content editor for a small press.

When not busy editing or writing, Jessica enjoys crafting and piano, and spending time with her friends and family. Book review: Blink to Oblivion

Book review :

๐ŸŒธ BLINK TO OBLIVION—IT’S BEGUN: A Spiritual Timeline for Hope is the beginning of a life of meaning, purpose, truth, transformation, and freedom for you.

๐ŸŒธ This is a self help book that focus on positive affirmations, road to peaceful living through faith and holistic mindfulness. It is compact form of personal experiences, and life lessons and takeaways from scripture.

๐ŸŒธ Blink with oblivion is brimming with multi dimensional approach to become more aware of our emotions and break free from the negativity.

๐ŸŒธ Quote from the book :

The final takeaway was that it can’t do everything for you because

God can’t put everything in it. He keeps some things for Himself

that only He can know, and He doesn’t share them in the Bible.

How do I know this? Dr. Stanley, Minister

๐ŸŒธ The author has well penned each of his thoughts putting life to his words. Reading his inspiring words was quite amazing. Diving into the spiritual journey was fascinating.

๐ŸŒธ I relished reading this book and would recommend this book to all.

๐ŸŒธHappy Reading!

Book review: Mostly Normal

Book review:

๐ŸŒธ Mostly Normal by Priya deep kaur is a book that involves her journey as a sister in expecting a sibling to be her protective hand or her saviour or best friend but destiny has some other thing for her. She shares how difficult it was for accepting a bit abnormal child for her family.

๐ŸŒธ In this book , she shares all those letters which she started writing as a child but skipped writing due to distress or shock to accept the reality. Her turbulent mental anxiety got collected in these letters. She shares about the challenges , grief, frustration and the helplessness of a hopeful sibling to isolation.

๐ŸŒธ Though it is not easy for any parent or family to accept the child with bit abnormalities but to accept and face with a smile for the person dear one is challenging job. Dreamy kid becomes more self reliant and her life changes drastically. To read this book , it was like going through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Quite heart touching book that made me laugh cry or feel the pain at times.

๐ŸŒธ I liked reading this book and would recommend this book for all for a change to accept all odds.

Book review : Life is like a dish

Book review :

๐ŸŒธ Life is like a dish by Hiba Khan is an exemplary book for virtues that we possess with time and experience. She shares a deep thought in her simplest writing and guides about the hardcore realities of life and presenting life with emotions and colours.

๐ŸŒธ The author shares her ample experiences about life and how those hits and praises taught her lessons that are relishing each bit with consistent efforts of not giving up. She compares life with a dish explaining like you can't skip your meals then how can anyone skip fighting for true love or living life to its fullest.

๐ŸŒธ Reading this book of mere 45 pages was an hour work but those pages reminded me of all the occurrences of her life similar to mine. I really relished reading this book and would recommend this book to all. I am extremely thankful to the author for gifting me this book in return of an honest review.

Book review : Like the radiant Sun

Book review:

๐ŸŒธ To know about the Shiva temple or the related manuscript was quite fascinating for me. When I started reading the book , I was so hooked up in the flow that could not resist in knowing more about the secret behind.

๐ŸŒธ The story revolves around the protagonist Rohan Sharma, an archaeologist in Varanasi who has come to renovate the Shiva temple. But unknowingly he stumbles on the Marma Kala, an ancient manuscript on martial arts. From there starts a story of secrets and finding his own life in danger.

๐ŸŒธ He is constantly finding himself in danger in one or the other way around. But to his luck he is saved by a mysterious lady , Neela. It was quite interesting to find out what's the reason behind everything and how come this manuscript is related to it all.

๐ŸŒธ The author has well penned each scene depicting minute details giving full aroma of adventure , ancient heritage and the very loved Shiva through his this impeccable work.

๐ŸŒธ I relished reading this book and would recommend this book to all.

Book review: The House of May Flowers

 Book review:

๐ŸŒธ The story of The House of May Flowers is like a fairy tale that is about the Kodagu village. We get to see how the life of Raja becomes fragmented after the death of his father and even more so as he begins his journey living in his uncle's house.

๐ŸŒธ As he returns to claim his legacy, he stands at a crossroad. There is also a dark secret that is crippling Raja. It is quite interesting to find out if he will find his love and happiness beyond the Mayflower house. Will he be able to seek any knowledge that sets him free from his tragic past?

๐ŸŒธ The author has penned the storyline very well and the characters are well-plotted. Raja's life is vibrant and powerful. The author pours light on the mother and son bonding where his mother is his beacon of light despite the tragedies of his life but even so, he has a lion's heart.

๐ŸŒธ I would like to share the best advice that was given to Raja that is true for everyone:

" Adversity makes you a man. It is not in others' capacity to change their destiny. Suresh had a destiny that he had to live through. For that, you cannot punish yourself. You have to remember; you set an example for your children. You owe it to your family, your workers, and most importantly, you owe it to the memory of your mother to be strong".

๐ŸŒธ Best quote from the book:

"There is no such thing . It is only our imaginations building stories to support our crumbling system . When we connect our blind beliefs with our circumstances, it seems as if there is a connection".

๐ŸŒธ I relished reading this deep-insight book completely and would recommend this book to all.

Book review: Myra and the secret library

Book review:

๐ŸŒธ This is an eye opening tale based on the year 2076 when there will be lack of trees and paper will be rarely used. At such a time , paperbacks will be a dream for any book lover.

๐ŸŒธ The story is based on a little girl, Myra who is fond of reading but only have access to e-readers and touching real books was just a dream . One day when she accidentally finds her grandmother's book her inner urge for paperbacks gets aroused. Her father shares a lot of secrets regarding books and it just add to her longing for real books which she could feel and touch.

๐ŸŒธ Her urge gets satisfied when she finds a secret library. The story gets interesting about her secret and twists and turns in keeping the secret and hence saving the last library.

๐ŸŒธ It was quite interesting to find out the real value of books and how to protect the heritage for the upcoming generations. The author has brilliantly put forward the love for books to inculcate in the minds of kids so that they help protect environment. The hidden message of going green and save trees was praiseworthy.

๐ŸŒธ I loved reading this book and would recommend this book to all kids and adults.

Book review : Think thought thought

Book review:

๐ŸŒธ This book is a collection of short poetic verses that has an enthralling impact when read with introspection and ponder a bit at the deep insight of the author's words or facts that are true but unacceptable at times.

๐ŸŒธThey have the power to take you from human to the humane grounds where life is far more beautiful, sorted, worthy and peaceful than in the present day material world, full of inner as well as outer conflicts.

๐ŸŒธ Few of the poetic verses that really touched me or reminded hard truths of life are :

"The only definition of right and wrong is;

Point of view."

"Actions speak louder than words,

Listen to them, use your eyes.

Words cut deeper than swords,

Watch their edge. Be kind. Be wise."

"Love is like a feather, beautiful.

Soft, fragile, difficult to handle.

But , easy to lose as well.

So , hold onto it as you find it."

๐ŸŒธ I was so intrigued by the writing style of the author and the way all the truths are laid down impeccably that I finished it in no time. These verses depict how hard it is to accept the bitter truth of life but life becomes bit easy after accepting these facts of life.

๐ŸŒธ I loved reading this book immensely and would recommend this book to all.

Book review : A song of winter

Book review :

A Song of Winter gives us a very technical and tactical story surrounding a sudden weather event which throws humanity into the path of extinction. We follow a group of people in Scotland who each have unique skills to navigate such an event and have a shot to survive.

The story revolves around Professor Finlay Hamilton who realises there is a link between his own research into dark matter and the freak weather. Titch grew up with Jess and is also looking to settle back in the old community, one that has trained for ways to survive off the grid. As these stories weave together we learn more and more about the cosmic events that are causing the extreme weather and whether humanity has any chance to come out the other side.

The characters were all very different and had their own ways of doing things and their own unique personalities which I liked. There was plenty of action and a few tense moments. The storyline is quite intriguing and captivating .

I enjoyed reading this book completely and would recommend this book to all. I am thankful to Kelly @lovebooktours for giving me this book in return of an honest review.

Book review : A Butterfly Riddle

Book review:

๐ŸŒธ A butterfly Riddle is a riveting and captivating tale that intrigues from the very start. The story revolves around the protagonist Siddharth Ramaswami and his friends. Siddharth Ramaswamy, a very silent guy , whose life is very simple and effortless, was going through his normal routine .

๐ŸŒธ He and his friends are accused of a crime which was never committed by them. From here, the twist starts; their struggle to get themselves out of the maze, and the unexpected twist that goes throughout the story.

๐ŸŒธ The emotions of numerous kinds , strong feelings and twists take over the mind of the reader, and the essence of the book is lucid and captivating. The storyline is adroit and it hooked me from the very start. I was so indulged in the story that I finished it in two sittings.

๐ŸŒธ The author has well penned the intricate details of each scene and the characters are well plotted. Their hilarious moments with the revealing past from that riddle was quite fascinating.

๐ŸŒธ I loved reading this book and would recommend this book to all.

Book review : Droplets of Magic

Book review :

This book is labeled as book 4 in the Unstable Magic Series; however, it's also a stand alone book. The book follows Kira. She was born with incredible water powers. Unfortunately not the type of magic allowed by the witches council.

She’s what’s called a Defect, and that means one of two things in the witch world—losing your magic or death. After faking her demise, Kira is in hiding. She risks exposure and travels the world, making the Defective magic that would get her killed into a gift by bringing rains to places that most need water.

"You're not dying today, so quit with the martyr act."

As such she has lived most of her life hiding. Until on a single day a stranger and an old friend find her on a remote village in Africa. Who can you trust? Who is telling the truth? How much has the world changed?

Before she goes away, she decides to go back to this village in Africa for the last time to help them out. But she didn't know her past will catch up with her when she least expects it. She needs to outsmart a lot of people to make it out and find a much higher purpose for her existence and that of all the other Defects.

The storyline is so adroit and riveting that it hooked me from the first line till the end. I was so indulged in the magical powers and the characters that i finished it in two sittings. It was quite interesting to find out what will happen next that one cannot leave reading. What an action packed story. It has fantasy, power, magic, witches, mafia, romance and a found family.

I loved reading this book completely and would recommend this fantasy book to all fantasy book lovers. I am thankful to @magicpentours for giving me this book in return of an honest review.

Book review: Basorexia of a naughty brat

Book review:
๐ŸŒธ This book is a collection of poems written in a unique style diving so many thoughts in the reader's mind. A surplus collection of new words giving the texture of many poetry styles I hardly knew like Haiku, Limerick , Ballard and many more.

๐ŸŒธ This book is divided into 13 arrays , all written in different forms of poetry . Each poem ends with a quote regarding poetry depicting emotions that are expressed by a poet in his poetry.

๐ŸŒธ Few verses that I liked are:
"Only comfy solace,
Sort it when aweless."

"Sometimes it's better to share amanim with strangers."

"A poem is true if it hangs together. Information points to something else. A poem points to nothing but itself."

๐ŸŒธ I enjoyed reading this book immensely and would recommend this book to all.

Book review : No One's Coming

Book review:
๐ŸŒธ This book is an autobiography of the author in which he shares his journey of crippling shyness to extraordinary public speaker. Though public speaking is not everyone's cup of tea but to express one's feelings is an essential need of everyone. To guide and share his own tricks, this book is a boon for every shy person.

๐ŸŒธHe shares how being in spotlight was his worst nightmare but gradually he learnt that no one ever helps one in worst situations but it's only you who can save yourself. He has divided the book in two parts: In one he shares his social anxiety and a lonely way out of lessons, years of mindset and personal growth bring him back into the fold.

๐ŸŒธ In part two , he shares step by step formula to his million dollar success. He proves through his formula that anyone can be the next speaker to make a million dollars a week.

๐ŸŒธ Words from the book that really inspired me:
"Less thinking, more doing. You have to get out of your head , like a flow state in sports, you need to be in zone nothing feels forced , everything feels natural and you are performing at a peak level."

" you have two options either stay the same or invest a small amount in your success to achieve___".

Book review: Shri Devi Mahatmyam for kids

 Book review:

๐ŸŒธ This book is a collection of short stories for kids stating the glories and origins of Devi. This book acts as a guidebook to help your children start on an amazing spiritual journey of self discovery with devi- the Feminine Creator of the Universe.

๐ŸŒธ The book shares in a very simplified language the deep insight and thought provoking stories from our Vedas and Purana with questions inbetween for kids to memorize each story and remember its lesson throughout his life.

๐ŸŒธThe three devis, the cycle of karma, the simplified purpose of life, wiping out illusion from the face of reality, the devi mantras, the procedure to celebrate/ worship the devi & the mythological stories made this book a delight to read & absorb.

๐ŸŒธ The author has well narrated the stories picking up selective stories for kids teaching experience of life in a meticulously. He guides Why one should be good for Goodness sake?? His deep knowledge and ease of presenting the stories to kids is adroit.

๐ŸŒธ Reading these stories in Navratra was a blessing. As a complete devotee of Maa I usually read all the Durga Sapta Shati books but this time I read this along for my kids to understand and value the divinity and grace of Maa.

๐ŸŒธ I loved reading this book along with shloka well versed in simple language too. I would recommend this book to all kids and adults too.

๐ŸŒธ Happy Reading!

Book review: Voyagers into the Unknown

Book review:

๐ŸŒธ This book is a vibrant story of transformation through an unlikely source. Its a delight to interrogate the emotional connection between strangers and between races. It deals with the intangible aspects of human existence and inculcate the quality of forgiveness and compassion.

๐ŸŒธ The story revolves around Raj's tourist agency who helps a group of foreigners who visit India that offers tours throughout Agra. Raj gets to know many people daily and his experience grows. As the story progresses, the twists and turns stirred me completely.

๐ŸŒธThe author has well penned the storyline bringing upfront the emotional setbacks of many tourists and the reason at times they come out for an outing either to enjoy or handle out their entangled personal issues. The author has beautifully depicted Raj's character and how heals the hearts of spiritually damaged persons.

๐ŸŒธ Looking Agra from the tours view and the spectators view was quite fascinating. It provides an urge to visit Agra once and change your attitude towards life a bit.

๐ŸŒธ I enjoyed reading this book and venturing many people's issues was a mix feeling. I would recommend this deep insight book to all.

Book review : The Last Love Story

Book review :

The last love story is an elusive story of love and choosing writing as a career. To become a writer and make it as a profession feels weird to many. Such a heart-touching story of the protagonist Mahe or Mahindra is shared in this story.

Mahe and Ela are childhood lovers, unfortunately, their destiny is not written together and Mahe moved from Kerala to Gurgaon for making his career as a writer. He was not willing to relocate but circumstances made him take the drastic decision and there he met Reeti. But yet again he was asked to assure a settled career and not be dependent on writing. According to many people around him writing can be chosen as a hobby but not as a career.

‘True Love doesn’t change with time, what you felt when you met her will remain till the end of your story, and for that, you will nurture her love like your own, every day.’

These words of her mother always resonated in his ears. The bond between Mahe and his mother is like a friend from his childhood. He remembers of those days when her mother taught him the skills of life and reminded him that loving a person is easy but to pursue it lifelong is bit difficult. So he finally returns to his mother at his home to write his last love story which will either make or break his career, heart, and life.

The author has impeccably depicted the choices made by people when it comes to chose a bridegroom for a daughter if one is a writer. The true value of parenting and related bonds along with being a lover is depicted vividly.

I loved reading this book immensely and would recommend this book to all.
