The Life of Tolka by Nitin Chopra, Niveditha Preeth | Book review

Book review:

War is such a sensitive issue that each individual wants to get rid of it. So why not change ourselves and make life at peace. "The Life of Tolka" is based on the real story of two persons who went to Ukraine for study but got stuck in the war. The helplessness of individuals like them and the shared fear of terror is vividly seen.

In this book, I get to read the complications and the misery of people in first place. Each chapter begins with a heart wrenching picture that binds the reader to know how this misery prevailed and how people over there survived. The strength of this book lies in the striking, thought-provoking quotes that lie in the beginning of the chapter.

A few quotes that left me spellbound :
📚 "All I have is memories, and all that they do is haunt me".
📚 " Nothing is more precious than peace. Peace is the most basic starting point for the advancement of human kind."

Both the authors have left an indelible mark in the minds of the readers. Their unique and straightforward approach towards particular social issues makes the reader to think and enquire its surroundings for peace. They pin point the basic need of peace and how common people who are facing the trauma are helpless and for others it is mere a drama.

The ending question of the author and the answer he gets in return left me with so many questions in mind and forced me to think "Is this life we want for ourselves?".

Overall, the book embarks the reader on a journey of life of Tolka , a place which got devastated during Ukraine war in 2022. The aftermath and during the war pictures of people are speaking more than author's words. Worth reading,do grab it!

The Curse of the Dark Horseman by Kristina Stangl | Book review

Book review:

"The Curse of the Dark Horsemen"  is a superb mix of sentiment and dream. It will without a doubt captivate readers who value a very much-turned fantasy with a hint of secret, leaving them enthusiastically turning the pages to find on the off chance that affection can genuinely overcome all.

The story begins with the protagonist Kassie looking at the painting of Dark Horseman. Her longing for such a handsome man grows more and more. Looking at her increasing interest in the painting, her grandmother discloses the secret of the painting. Kassie gets to know about the curse which was spelt on this handsome man, Lord Henry, heir of Galloway Manor. Her grandmother advised her to marry Walter rather than look for Henry as no one knows how his curse will be finished.

Although he was only a legend, Kassie still secretly wished to meet him. Even if it was only limited to merely her own dreams; for truly, she desperately longed to see him. To speak to him. To touch him. To kiss him. Ah, yes, Kassie was extremely attracted to the man, whose portrait hung above the walls of her family’s estate. If only it could be…

It is intriguing to read about how Kassie's destiny takes her to the woods just before her wedding ceremony. She is lost in the woods running from the wolf. There she accidently meets his dream man. However, might an eternal man and a human lady at any point have a blissful completion? Could their adoration at any point be the fix to a solid revile? Will Kassie, act as the missing connection to Henry's heart, whom he's stood by for so lengthy for? Could she at any point save him from an unending length of time of dejection and punishment? Will cherish overcome all, in a definitive closure of this dim and legendary fantasy?

Quote from the book that piqued me:
💓“Perhaps, but the mind is also a powerful force. What you believe, you often see. And what you hope, often comes to be,” said Maureen.

💓“Love is such a rarity, my dear. Not everyone experiences the same romantic love, as we read in stories. Sometimes, it’s far better to live a safe life, than to risk otherwise,” Maureen reflected.

The author has meticulously weaved the storyline keeping a mystery element throughout. The characters are well plotted and the language is vivid and evocative. The plot's unexpected turns keep the story connected with, and the writer's engaging composition easily moves readers into the core of the captivated woods. The juxtaposition of the reviled godlike and the courageous human woman makes way for a convincing investigation of adoration's groundbreaking power.

Overall, the book is a must-read for admirers of sentiment and dream, offering a legendary sentiment, a striking setting, and convincing characters that wait in the creative mind. Energetically suggested for those looking for a new interpretation of exemplary fantasy components.

Me 'N' Mine by Namita Gupta | Book review

Book review:

"Me N Mine" is a rollercoaster of the author's emotional ups and downs during and after her pregnancy. It has hilarious anecdotal incidents in which her family too went through emotional turmoil and bounced back stronger; at times more enlightened, ready to challenge yet another conventional thought or societal norm. Through this book, she tells her journey of letting herself free and letting her larvae turn into beautiful butterflies.

She begins with her dream of having twins but during delivery, her pains don't start. She narrated how doctors waited for proper pains but later operated on her and she was gifted with a baby girl. I was literally laughing when she said she was feeling pain after her operation.

Her preparations for her second child became exhausted after taking care of them or her family. I felt the same feeling when I was handling my kids. I appreciated the way she learnt from her mistakes and turned towards healthy eating despite herself a junk eater.

A few Quotes from the book that piqued me:
💧"Motherhood is a fine balance between encouragement and feedback, holding back and letting go."

💧"Nothing can be more worrisome than seeing your child imbibe the behaviour you disapprove in yourself. It’s best if we learn along the way and express the way we want our kids to express themselves."

💧"Kids are beautiful souls and if they know you need their help, they will go out of their way to help you and make you happy. All you have to do is not pick flaws and appreciate them at each step. Love and warmth will always win over any imperfection. I found everything perfect, which made them learn how to run a household at a very young age."

The author meticulously weaved her life's most precious moments and depicted the hurdles faced by most of the mothers. A truly different life and new learning concepts especially when your kids start teaching you little things in life. Her unique approach of indirectly conveying the message of "Beti padhao and Beti Bachao".

Overall, the book is a mesmerizing read which takes all mothers to relive their own moments by reading the memoir. It helps the upcoming mothers or parents to learn some tricks to pacify their kids or be prepared to seek help in need. Worth reading, do grab it!

Poori & Bhaji by Dolly Jayakrishnan | Book review

 Book review:

Poori and Bhaji is a famous dish that resonates with all Indians. If I was ever asked to narrated about them or Their friendship in an engrossing manner, I must have thought a bit. But in this book, I found my answers to little queries of my kids that how this dish became so famous.

The characters of Poori and Bhaji are splendidly depicted and their dynamic exchange embodies the genuine pith of profound companionship. Bhaji's consistent comprehension, consolation and backing for Poori make for a contacting depiction. The story astutely installs significant examples about cooperation and provide reasons for one's success.

The best part of this book is the beautiful depiction of pictures narrating the story that makes the story crystal clear. The vivid depiction of each line helps the small kids to understand and visualize the story in their minds as well.

The author's composing style is a key feature, with clear language and a holding story voice that easily draws in reading. The book's straightforwardness is raised by his capacity to pass significant messages on through interesting narrating.

The author has meticulously narrated the varied elements of the story making introduction of new words and selection of colours of items is really praise worthy. I liked the use of font size, colour combination and use of high quality paper for kids to touch and feel the paper quality repeatedly.

Overall, my attempt to gift my kids a beautiful and mesmerizing story book was satisfying. My kids loved the story and were arguing to repeat the story on a daily basis. I will highly recommend this book to all kids aged 5-8years. Do grab it!

Dwapar katha by Sudipta Bhawmik | Book review

 Book review:

Dwapur Yuga is mostly known for the emergence of Lord Krishna, The Mahabharata and the rule of Pandavas. Each is a different epic if one begins reading. But to my utmost sincerity when I grabbed this book, I was literally startled to see its size and pages. But when I started with reading it, It turned out to be a complete page turner.

"Dwapar Katha" is an engrossing, captivating and gripping tale where one finds a collection of all stories. Starting from Saint Vyasa, saga of warring cousins and the reasons that led to Mahabharata. Each tale has left an indelible mark on the reader's collective imagination. The valiant Pandavas and the formidable Kauravas have The story of their own or I must say the reasons for their anger, hatred and envy.

The stories takes us to the world of rishis where these cousins used to study together but somewhere a seed of envy was always there. Their hidden rivalry becomes more profound when Duruyodhana is ridiculed in Indraprastha by Draupadi. Though all was done unintentionally but it lead to the sole reason of Mahabharata.

A complete plan of dice game is planned and Pandavas fall in the trap leading to Draupadi stripping and all Pandavas sitting and doing nothing. The rage of anger is vividly depicted. Draupadi urges for help to everyone but all in vain and at last sought help by Lord Krishna. Their exile is decided with one year of incognito.

It was intriguing to read about the return of Pandavas and how they brilliantly fought the war. Each day was a thrilling experience. I was left spellbound by the intricate emotions of both the warriors.

Could the upright generally vanquish the vindictive? Are the Kauravas genuinely the exemplification of obscurity, while the Pandavas radiate uprightness? Does Dharma win eventually?

The author dives profound into the complexities of human instinct as he investigates the minds of a diverse cast of characters, uncovering their inspirations and wants. He drenches us in their constant inward battles on a combat zone more significant than Kurukshetra. His vivid depiction of the battleground, mind games of Kauravas, Fuming angst of Pandavas and many more is praise worthy.

I literally experienced the fuming fury of Bheem as he seethes against the quiet Yudhishtir during Draupadi's stripping down. But he even lament with Duroyadhan when he loses his dear companion Karna in the conflict. I could easily explore the ideas of Dharma and Karma alongside the Pandavas, as the pages unfurl the age-old stories of the Vana Parva, where rishis share life examples with the banished Pandavas.

Overall,Dwapar Katha is a joy to read. The charming writing and staggering delineations reinvigorate this ageless story where obscurity and light interlace and legends are frequently unclear from antagonists. The Mahabharata has never been really charming, intriguing and alive.

I am thankful to @blogchatter team, the publisher and the author for providing me the opportunity to read this book in return of an honest review. This review falls under the blogchatter review program.

Democracy is stated to be By the people,  of the people  and For the people.

"Factory Resets of Governance Rules" by Vinod Kumar Dhall is an insightful look at India's democratic governance system. The book begins with an engaging account of India's historical journey, which serves as a foundation for the author's insightful analysis. Dhall's experience as a resigned CXO includes validity to his appearance the condition of administration, making a drawing in passage point for perusers.

The necessity of a "Factory Reset" in governance is emphasized in the book's critical examination of India's democratic development. Dhall adroitly frames the difficulties and power awkward nature inside the framework, supporting for the reclamation of the division of abilities and governing rules. The work stands out for its practical approach, which offers options for systemic issues that can be implemented.

Many reset forms are penned by the author. But many of his thoughts and reset ideas were so interesting that I felt like implementation of them should be straight away. His unique approach to democracy and how few customs can be rectified or changed with the need of time is praise worthy.

The book offers a critical assessment of India's democracy today, emphasizing the power disparity and the executive branch's domination, which have resulted in the marginalization of other essential state organs. In order to guarantee a more just and equitable society, Dhall deftly argues for the restoration of the separation of powers and checks and balances inside the governing structure.

Trials of Dharma : Book 2 of Samrat Yudhishthira trilogy by Semanti Chakraborty | Book review

Book review:

“You are not realising the root cause of the problem, brother. Power is not the ultimate aim. Unless you are prepared well to handle intrigues that come unannounced, power does not remain.”- Quote from the book.

"Trials of Dharma" marks the second instalment of the Samrat Yudhishthira Trilogy. It delves into the pivotal episode of the dice game and subsequent exile. The narrative unfolds as Yudhishthira loses everything in the fateful game, leading to the disrobing and humiliation of Draupadi by the Kauravas, followed by the Pandavas and Draupadi enduring their 13-year exile.

A poignant aspect of the book is the meticulous portrayal of Yudhishthira's efforts to mend his relationship with Draupadi. His genuine remorse and absence of excuses contribute to a gradual reconciliation, showcasing a commendable character arc. Draupadi's fiery yet patient character retains her gentle demeanour, emphasising her pivotal role in keeping the brothers united.

The narrative sheds light on Yudhishthira's resilience in the face of profound struggles. Despite enduring successive tragedies that mar his happy memories, he presses on, undeterred by pain, steadfastly walking the path of Dharma. This unwavering commitment may well explain his epithet, "Dharmaraj Yudhishthira."

I appreciate the way Draupadi maintains her warrior spirit even after being dragged by hair in the courtroom or her consistency in staying in the woods with her husband leaving her kin in safe parts for 13 years. Her pain, agony, and efforts to keep Samrat's brothers together.

The author skillfully portrays Yudhishthira's growth, illustrating his acts of rescue and protection for his brothers and cousins in various challenging situations. The character's internal conflicts find resolution as he grapples with moral dilemmas while safeguarding his kin.

In this book, the author highlights the fact about half knowledge. Pandavas were not aware of this dice game still they reluctantly accepted to play the game and adhere to the consequences. Why does a person jump into wrongdoings when his conscience doesn't allow it?

The author meticulously weaves the storyline in a vivid and evocative manner. Language is lucid and gripping which keeps the readers engrossed till the end. Her deep research and detail is quite evident.

In conclusion, "Trials of Dharma" is a compelling book that vividly depicts Yudhishthira's character development. His adept handling of dharma in challenging circumstances serves as a notable highlight. This book is highly recommended for enthusiasts of the Mahabharata, offering a captivating exploration of the enduring themes within the epic.
