Book review:

"How Long Does Forever Last" offers a gripping journey through the turbulent terrain of divorce, shrouded in undisclosed reasons. Skillfully crafted by the author, this novel delves into themes of love, loss, and the unwavering pursuit of closure, captivating readers from the very outset.

The story commences with the married couple, Reha and Dhruv, initiating divorce proceedings. The emotional weight of this separation and Dhruv's reluctance to disclose the reasons behind it, especially to his mother-in-law, adds a poignant layer to the narrative. However, Dhruv's revelation that his mother-in-law is already aware of the situation deepens the intrigue. She entrusts him with Reha's journals, which she penned following her parents' divorce.

Dhruv, driven by the desire to unravel the mystery behind Reha's decision, embarks on a journey through her journals. As he delves into her written words, the narrative transports readers back to their school days and the origins of their relationship.

While the story predominantly unfolds in the past timeline, it revolves around the theme of divorce and the profound impact it had on Reha, a facet her parents failed to comprehend.

As the narrative unfolds, both Dhruv and Reha become increasingly relatable. Dhruv's determination to unearth the truth behind their divorce is both admirable and heart-rending. His vulnerability and commitment to understanding Reha's perspective endear him to readers.

The writing style is evocative and lyrical, skillfully portraying the characters' inner turmoil and the world around them. The author adeptly controls the pacing, seamlessly transitioning between past and present, gradually unveiling the layers of the couple's history. This narrative approach sustains suspense and effectively conveys the intricacies of their relationship.

In conclusion, "How Long Does Forever Last" is a captivating read that revolves around the universal question of 'forever.' It presents a beautifully written exploration of the complexities inherent in human relationships. Drawing from philosophy, practical insights, and real-life illustrations, the author explores the notion that our personal consciousness is intimately intertwined with the universal consciousness.

A few highlights from the book that piqued me to change and live my life in a fresh manner:
🌸 Crisis, adversity and struggle are an integral part of our lives, but it is what we do with that adversity that counts in the end.

🌸 In order to have a balanced mind and to progress spirituality, human beings will have to pay attention to the qualities  of the food they eat....Only food which is helpful in keeping the body and the mind sentient should be eaten.

🌸 Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

In 'Consciousness: The Final Frontier,' the author seamlessly merges the mystical and the ordinary, drawing upon both ancient wisdom and contemporary insights. Through the use of real-life illustrations, the book explores the concept of our consciousness being an integral part of, and harmoniously connected to, the greater consciousness of the universe. In essence, this book delves into the realms of inner peace, personal development, and the adoption of a yogic way of life to cultivate enduring serenity in the face of life's challenges. Queen of Hearts (Seven Brides for Seven Mothers, #6) by Whitney Dineen | Book review

 Book review:

Queen Charlotte of Malquar, believing herself a matchmaker, interferes with Prince Andrew's love life, complicating matters for him. Agnes Dupuis, a capable secretary for Princess Aubrey with her own career plans, becomes a pawn in the Queen's scheme as she's transferred to work closely with Drew. Drew, bound by royal obligations, resists his attraction to Agnes, who is oblivious to the manipulation. Will they bridge the gap and overcome their differences, or will societal expectations keep them apart, despite their undeniable connection?

What distinguishes this series is the incorporation of chapters featuring the main couple's meddling parents, particularly the Queen, who has a history of interference. In this instalment, the Queen involves Agnes's mother and a friend, both unhappy in their own marriages, in her matchmaking efforts to bring Agnes and Andrew together. While well-intentioned, these chapters can feel somewhat distracting from the central romance.

The writing style is generally appealing, and I found myself entertained enough to read the book in one sitting. However, I didn't particularly warm to the hero. Despite his royal status, he doesn't come across as princely. At the outset, he purposefully behaves rudely toward Agnes, and later on, his behavior is attributed to snobbish cluelessness. I believe he needed more redemption and grander gestures, potentially making another character, Jones, a more appealing prospect.

I am grateful to NetGalley for providing me with this book, and I am offering this review voluntarily.

Loving Brooke (Unexpected Love Book 3) by Elsa Winckler | Book review

Book review:

Book three in The Unexpected Love series delves into the captivating love story of Brooke and Gavin. With a compelling storyline that keeps readers eagerly turning pages, this book maintains a firm grip on your attention. What begins as a simple life soon becomes complicated with the introduction of romance, sizzling chemistry, bouts of jealousy, and the meddling of well-meaning but interfering families. It's a heartwarming journey from friends to lovers.

Brooke and Graham have shared a connection for three years, stemming from the marriage of Brooke's brother to Graham's sister. Despite their undeniable chemistry, they had refrained from acting upon it. Brooke, still grappling with the loss of her husband, was on a journey toward independence, often finding solace in her art. However, as their families intensify their matchmaking efforts, Brooke and Gavin devise a plan to thwart them—they decide to embark on a fake relationship for two weeks.

The story unfolds brilliantly, with Brooke and Gavin initially entering into a fake relationship but ultimately discovering a genuine connection, thanks in part to their well-meaning but slightly meddlesome family members. Overcoming past obstacles, they pave the way for a sweet and loving future together. While this is the first book in the series I've read, I'm now excited to explore the stories of the sisters.

In summary, this is a fantastic read that takes you on a journey from pretence to authentic love. It's a heartwarming and engaging story that leaves you eager to discover more about the sisters' tales in the series.

Running Out of Time by Angie Stanton | Book review

Book review:

This book is an exhilarating and adventurous tale filled with intriguing twists and turns. I found myself rapidly flipping through the pages, perched on the edge of my seat in anticipation as the characters navigated their next moves.

In the year 1927, Will embarks on his college journey, only to receive devastating news of his family's demise due to smallpox. His world crumbles, and to his astonishment, he awakens to the realization that he has been inexplicably propelled three years into the future. In this temporal leap, he loses his home and many of his possessions.

It's in this unfamiliar future that he crosses paths with Abbi, who reveals herself as a time traveller from the year 2022. She shares her ability to journey only into the past. Both plagued by fear, they make a pact to stay awake each night to prevent involuntary time travel. Despite their efforts, Will finds himself propelled further into the future, leaving Abbi stranded in the past. Their quest to reunite is fueled by the cryptic clues they've left for each other.

Stanton's storytelling prowess shines, as she thoughtfully incorporates period-specific elements to immerse readers in the era where Will finds himself. One detail that piqued my curiosity was Will's financial situation, which I wished had been explored further.

The narrative is enriched by meticulous research and attention to detail, evident in the wealth of historical and factual knowledge woven into the storyline. As you delve deeper into the narrative, you become inexorably absorbed, connecting with the characters and the world that surrounds them. Their emotions become your own.

In summation, this book is a treasure trove of captivating historical details, well-rounded characters, a dash of humour, and a compelling love story. It's a read that's truly worth your while—a captivating journey from start to finish.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Angie Stanton, the publishers at Xpresso Book Tours, and the NetGalley team for granting me the privilege of reading an advanced copy. This opportunity allowed me to relish the book in exchange for an honest review, an experience I hold dear.

Reasons Why Not to Date Your Nemesis (Shell Grove Book 2) by Melanie Munton | Book review

Book review:

"Reasons Why Not to Date Your Nemesis" fits the classic enemies-to-lovers trope flawlessly. It's a charming, chemistry-filled, light-hearted, and steamy romance.

Ben Crawford and Olivia Knight, far from being high school sweethearts, share a history as mortal enemies, connected in an unconventional way. Now as adults, Ben takes on the role of the new sheriff in town, and Olivia finds herself unable to keep her thoughts away from him—mostly thoughts of various ways to get rid of him because she despises him that much.

However, when they decide to channel their animosity and frustration into different outlets, they venture into an arrangement of enemies with benefits. While it may seem straightforward, their complicated past and concealed secret creates an underlying tension. Will they be able to maintain this uncomplicated agreement, or will they discover the reasons why not to date your nemesis?

This marked my first foray into Melanie Munton's work, and I'm thrilled to find that she has numerous books for me to explore. Her writing style is engaging, making it feel as though a friend is casually sharing a story, which I found incredibly appealing. It's this light-hearted and easily digestible quality that draws readers deeper into the narrative.

I adored this book for its blend of humour and heartache. It felt authentic that they didn't immediately move past their past conflicts, as some unresolved issues required time to heal. The characters and the story itself left a strong impression, and I highly recommend it to others.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
